Suggestion Liberator - Join existing settlements to vassals without fight

Join an owing FO4 settlement to SS:C vassal without a fight?

  • No, I prefer to convert my FO4 settlemnts into vassals only by attacking it.

Hello,
after using this awesome mode for a long time I would like to make a humble suggestion.
I like playing a minuteman liberator and also follow FO4 story line with minutemen - in that way I do not feel like 2 separate games but one (some people can play BOS liberator and follow BOS story line ).
Can we convert a standard settlement which we already control into vassals using war desk without attacking it from outpost?
It would be really immersive if you want to convert a friendly settlement into SS:C vassal, just by build war desk or from Outpost to have option not only "Attack" but also "Join" like vassal (player can select which one to use).
In this situation you just convert your own FO4 settlements into SS:C settlement.
Technically the FO4 settlement which is under your control is already a "vassal" type ... just is under FO4 settlement and not under SS:C management.
Thank you so much for making this mode... I wouldn't play the game anymore without it.

My reason for not doing so, is you would then have no reason to ever run attacks as a Liberator.

To make it more immersive, your settlement will be dynamically kidnapped by an enemy faction when you run the attack.

That's not to say I won't do it one day, but I wanted to be certain people knew they wouldn't be fighting their own citizens.

Thank you kinggath for taking a time to answer.
I understand your reasons.
I really stand behind your idea to attack settlements and that is what I am doing ... but depend of the situation, if I have an option to choose, I would really appreciate that.

Please consider it and just for example, if I want to follow FO4 minutemen story, I need to keep 5 settlements under FO4 control... not SS:C settlements (requirement for the minutemen ending).
With time my FO4 settlements will be really well build and strong defended... and I do not feel fair, some raiders to take these fortresses and I will fight my own creation.
Thank you

I would like to throw a third option here.

If you choose to vassal/outpost a settlement you own, you fight a Defensive mission instead of an offensive one.

IE: You own Abernathy. You choose to make it into a vassal. Instead of a magic "convert to vassal" option (like Chrisxu is proposing) and instead of a random faction magically taking control the split second your back is turned without explanation, you get notification that (random faction) is planning to attack your settlement. You send (X) number of troops over to help defend it. If the battle is over and you win, you gain Abernathy as a Vassal.

Essentially, you take it over by reversing the roles. You still have to do a battle, but it makes more sense as you're doing the one defending instead of attacking.

Personally I think it I want to be randomized. Some settlements should be liberated, others you ask to join the vanilla game way and yet still others you have to defend.

I like this suggestion a lot
