Leaders unassigning themselfes randomly

Hello there.

In my current playthrough, some leaders seem to be a bit lazy and wander off. McCready is the major problem here but it occurs with others too. When I come to the specific settlement, the pop-up message for the leader that was already assigned (theoretically ) being now assigned appears and i have to build the whole settlement from level 0 again.
I already tried to fix this myself by taking back the settlement, then rebuilding local data for the settlement, assigning the leader again and letting the settlement build itself again.
This works sometimes, but lately i discovered that after saving at Starlight, McCready was unassigned again after closing the game and reloading. I just never know, at which point in time and where i have to start from 0 again. Annoying. I know that is not a new issue, but i was unable to find a fix that is working for me in the forum.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a new member here on the forum and can't be much of help, but are you running the latest version of Sim Settlements (3.3.2)? I'm just saying this because it was released two days ago, so you might missed. If you're not running 3.3.2 then probably you should update to see it the problem persists.

I’m having a slightly different problem that may be related. When I use Take Back City it only lasts around a couple of minutes. The leaders then take it back from me.

Since 3.3.2 I've been noticing quite a few issues with leaders, even in settlements that I build myself and just have the leader for the perks. Once case in point was Outpost Zimonja, which had Codsworth as the leader and was at least level 2 -- when I went there after turning Sommerville into a settlement, the leader of OJ was Mr. Sommerville, and a rebuild data unassigned him but didn't assign Codsworth back. When I reassigned Codsworth, I had to rebuild the city from level 0 again.

Last night I unassigned Ada from the settlement (manual build) she was leading and made her the leader of the Mechanist settlement. That went fine, but then when I went back there a couple of hours (game days) later, Supervisor White was listed as the leader -- heading to Graygarden, where I had designated White as the leader, Ada was listed. I switched Graygarden to Greene (White wasn't an option), went back to the Mechanist Lair, and got the popup that Ada was assigned as leader there. Fortunately it didn't reset and start building again, though it was still only level 0.

I use the SS Mayors and SS Vanilla Leaders add-ons, plus the leaders added by COOTS and Mytigio. I don't know if those are contributing to the issues, since it seems the random leaders are being pulled from those mods.

I have a few new ideas where this could come from. With the method mentioned in my first post, I reached a stable state for a while and no matter what I did to put stress on it, everything worked as intended. But then I took the Mechanists Lair. And well... five leaders unassigned. I have a strong feeling that getting new settlements or (this i couldn´t figure out jet ) building a new city builders desk in a settlement currently not having one, has the strong potential to somehow f*** up Sim Settlements data. Just a theory tho.

Edit: this occurs with "Vanilla" leaders equally as often as with leaders added by addons for myself

You know, you may be partially right -- my random-leader problem seemed to start after I started the Mechanist city plan. Maybe whatever King did to get the lair as a true settlement bugged something else in the code?

Just had the same happen to me at Abernathy with Connie as the leader using the Ted pack. I’ve also built up the Mechanist lair. No other settlement issues yet. I had also replaced the desk at Abernathy with one of Coots. Maybe that’s the issue?

I don't think so, as i don't use that pack myself and so i don't use the different desk either. And the issues were appearing for myself before the 3.3.2 update, so i don't think it's the mechanists lair specificly. I suppose it has something to do with getting new settlements registered by sim settlements in general, as everything works just fine until i get ANY new settlements.
