Flight Problems:

Flight works by swapping the player's race to be flying. This ends up causing some potential issues you should be aware of:

1. Do not open your pipboy. Wait until you have hit the ground before you open your pipboy or you can end up stuck in an animation glitch. To get out of it on PC, you can use the console to coc to a different location, for Xbox you pretty much have to reload a save. (List of coc commands/locations: https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3sloce/list_of_coc_locations/)

2. Do not use flight if you have a Jetpack equipped. This includes vanilla PA jetpacks and mod added jetpacks. They ended up causing your controls to go wonky.

3. The following mod-added items screw up flying and will need to be unequipped: Leather cheat from "One Shot", Stealth Jetpack Ring from "Dogmeat's Stealth Collar", and Sydney's Ring from "Fusion City Rising".

I would also like to report that this causes the Tag and Trait selection process to trigger if you have LevelUpMenuEx and a corresponding skill mod. This forces you to pick 3 more tag skills.

The same problem happens when climbing a specific ladder in a Sim Settlements Advanced Industrial plot (can't remember which one off the top of my head right now), I'm guessing it's the same cause.

Definitely the same cause. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about LevelUpMenuEx myself - they are likely monitoring for a race swap event to do their thing, as they probably figured no one was using race swapping for anything.

HAHAHHAa, and the Nano Suit Jet Pack..

Now I understand!

One should not need an excuse to FLY NAKED! Maybe just this one time I will not post a screenshot! :clap:rofl

I have an update on this one. Someone posted about Workshop Framework, Workshop Plus, and the LevelUpMenuEx raceswap issue on Neanka's (the mod author's) discord with a link to this thread. Unfortunately, he indicates that the issue is not a problem he needs to address on his end, and that it's other mod authors'/users' responsibility to correct issues on their end. Based on that, there may just be a "soft" incompatibility with LevelUpMenuEx for now.

Does a race change trigger when the player first comes out of the Vault or something? Kind of curious as to why they monitor that specifically.

I'm not sure, as I haven't used that mod before. My assumption is a race change trigger occurs at the point when LevelUpMenuEx gives you the Tagging/Trait selection menu, which normally only happens once. When does the Tag/Trait menu normally pop up?

I used Rename Anything for the longest time with only partial compatibility because I wouldn’t over-right DEF and in the end the authors worked it out. Until then users can choose. It’s a Framework, once they see something “they” want to do or use they will work things out. Haha, Then again maybe not?
Beggars can’t be choosers and it’s their mod and their game.
It’s just nice to know that there’s a place like this we can come and find out what works before hand.

I've only used it once, and that was on my last playthrough with an old version of You Are SPECIAL (newer versions do not make use of skills or traits, only perks) in conjunction with Start Me Up, and the prompt triggered after choosing to start in the Commonwealth, when I was first spawned in.

Wow - I am shocked Neanka has such an uncooperative attitude about conflicts. Claiming that all conflicts are for the other mod authors to deal with is arrogant and makes me think very poorly of him as a mod author.

I'll look into this and see what I can find out.

I honestly think it's more the language barrier than anything else. He usually seems like a decent fellow, if a little put upon. He may or may not have fully understood the poster's comment, and may or may not have followed the link to this thread.

That would be my guess. reading all the crap he has to put up with every time the script extender gets busted he probably feels a little put upon?

Exactly. I'd say it isn't more than a minor misunderstanding/mistranslation, and wasn't purposeful or a demonstration of poor character at all.

Neanka and Gambit77 are always going at it. It can be pretty funny. I think it is just him.

I went over and read it myself and his response confused me, which is normal. But, it just looks like an offhand remark.. I think the question was WP / I think the response was "be exceptional or whatever else" who knows...:) but nothing specific to WP. I think he is fine, sometimes its the grumpy ones that are the most helpful. :ok

My guess is he's referring to the mod Be Exceptional - Skills and Perk Overhaul [https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/28222] which uses his LevelUpMenuEx framework, hence my thought that, like you said, it was offhand and he didn't really read/process/understand the comment.

When you say corresponding skill mod, what do you mean? I've never used this before and am unable to replicate the problem with just LevelUpMenuEx.

More often than not, Neanka has folks bugging him about problems coming from Be Exceptional ~ https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/28222 ~ without taking the issue to rcoll first. I know even folks like Juicehead have reported Be Exceptional and the Level-Up Menu as being a synonymous system, rather than a framework and an asset using that framework.

I'd agree with some of the thoughts above about the grumpiness being a communication thing, though, so I'd recommend reserving judgement about it until he plain out says that the issue is on your end, first.

I'm not concerned with taking the blame - I'm certain we'll find bugs in the new mods - they are really complex. Just the idea that he would dismiss all issues brought forward as something the other mod authors have to address. In this case, it does seem like the comment was about the mod actually adding the Tag Skills though.

LevelUpMenuEx alone won't cause the problem, you'll need an add-on for that mod that add skills and/or traits. You Are SPECIAL used to do this, but this was removed in a later version.

Be Exceptional adds skills, and will likely trigger a Tag dialog box after changing race. I haven't tested for myself though.

Update: I tested for myself real quick with Be Exceptional and didn't get the problem. Got the initial Tag dialog as expected, but entering/exiting Workshop mode did not trigger additional Tag dialogs after several attempts.

I blame myself, as at the time I was running outdated versions of several mods, including LevelUpMenuEx, You Are SPECIAL, and indeed Fallout 4 itself (primarily because I was sick of Bethesda constantly updating FO4 to push their stupid microtransactions).

I would not concern yourself further unless someone else reports a similar issue. Sorry for having you chase ghosts around!
