Jamaica Plains... Find a bargain in the suburbs

Kingsport would have been nice, but I am burnt out on coastal sand and rock landscape from my Croup build. (I spent a month looking at the same stretch of water with the lighthouse in view - I would end up rocking back and forth in the corner spurting nonsense mutterings).

Hangman's Alley is a little too tight for me - on my scouting sojourn around the locations, when I first entered workshop there I found I still had HangmanEx.esp enabled - build area all the way to the river, then after disabling it and restarting I was brought back to the reality of its compactness.

Therefore I'm going for Jamaica Plains. A different feel from the last round and a little more freedom (space) to grow my ideas.

Good luck to everybody!

Right, after spending spent a couple of days now playing with plots, I'm starting to get together half the settlement layout.
Still no backstory yet, but hey there's still time for that to burst forth.

Heres a picture to make the post a little more interesting:

I think I made some progress, however it still feels half done

What to do with the empty top of a building just outside of the build zone?
Why, put some wind turbines on it of course.

Where to place plots when you are playing around with which ones you want to use?
Why in the surrounding streets of course. (hence the concrete factory to the right of the shot, and the internals in the street, no they're not staying there).

Anyways another progress pic...

I love how even though both you and I are doing the same settlement, the ways we’ve taken it have diverged so far that the end results are nearly unrecognizable!

The wind turbines on the roof are a great fit for that area - I just went with a couple of turrets overlooking the intersections and a neon sign, but yours really capitalizes on that space.

Plots pretty much decided on except for a couple of internal agricultural (glasshouse ones in the center)
Still working on the far entrance,
Haven't done any power, or many turrets (need to do defense calculations, whihc means junk storage too)
then add a tiny amount of clutter

Another day, another pic

So after just building without a real idea for a theme I came up with shopping in the suburbs, since there is now 8 commercials

Part of the design came from the external caravan plot - I just extended the building facade along the wall

Added in some Tiny Living plots - Fallon's (1x1) so you can look good in the wasteland

Mostly finished the entrance I was working on - stole checkpoint alpha's shell to help out

Just a higher look at beyond the above entrance

On the other side, I went mad with pavement - silly curbs and roads were in the wrong place

Be prepared, shooty things, and stuff to stop ouches

Well al I can say is if you use a spread sheet that you make sure you put in the correct functions.
My copy of an older sheet meant instead of a SUM, I just had the number 18 - so I though great I'll add a couple of more work plots.
Today as I started to plan out the other levels I found my error. I had 25 work plots - doh!

So gone is a bookstore and agricultural plot, and then I spent 4 hours juggling residential plots about, I think I built about half of them until I settled on UFO!
Fits nicely, and it could have come from the entrance to Jamaica Plain - though I can't delete that one.

But it also meant I swapped the Nottington Shack and Hunter's Den over - which makes more sense to me - The Weapons dealer below would like to do hunting, and someone needs to sort out the meat from the kills next door.

Thought about removing the Windfarm municipal up on the roof, swapped a whole lot of residentials up there but gave up, I like the Windfarm, it can stay - so now at 23 work plots. Put a couple of signs up too.

And then I made one simple addition of a yellow sign just outside the build zone....

I decided to remove the water municipal plot to get down to 22 settlers.
The Brewery needs water !
Probably should have just left it in for the time spent making my own
Used a shell, put in machinery, put in some pipes (sometimes trying to orientate them can be beyond frustrating)

And because I need to get the water from somewhere to purify, I put an intake in the water down by the broken bus

Getting closer to finishing Level 3
Player home and markers to go
So to change it up this post lets go with some night time shots

Well even closer now to finishing level 3. Just have to make a couple of decisions on final building plans.
Then it will be dropping down to start work on level 2... well taking level 3 apart a little.

Here's the flashy player digs (as expected of a settlement that has 7 merchants paying taxes)
It's outside of the build zone, and it does have windows all round, I just raised some of them to get the shots.

Yes. This looks fantastic.

Big Sigh, it is complete, well as much as I can dare to do.

Jamaica Plain is a destination once again! Gone are the ferals that once roamed the streets. Now a haven of trade, be it for those looking for new threads heading into Diamond City, those needing to equip up as you head out into the southern wastelands, or maybe you have heard of the fabled Treasures of Jamaica Plain - tours departing daily of the secret strong room that help them safe for centuries!

This is fantastic GavMan. I really like the night shots. The lighting is wonderful.
