Is there a way to add plot "mats" to an existing buildings?

I would like to convert a few custom snappy housekit and other building kit buildings to SS. In-game not as a mod.
The mechanism I have been thinking of is to, for example, add a residential "mat" maybe with a bed count, like an animation mat, to an area to SS-ize the space.
Is something like this possible e.g. via a mod e.g. blank 1x1 mats for different plot types?
If this was possible I could build complex structures and populate them rather than paste SS structures.
I guess I could make custon plots but that approach could be time consuming.

I am not aware of any add on that just have "blank" plots.
The limitation of having a blank plot is that whatever you build on top of it will not be considered a part of that plot an will be outside the plot ownership system.
I am not entirely sure what you are after as anything the player builds counts towards the settlement totals, ie beds, food, defense.
If you want the snappy houses as SS plots then I would recommend just making an add on that requires the snappy mod as a requirement and go from there. You can leave the houses empty of decoration and do all that manually. You might consider adding the beds to the different plot levels if you go this route.

Alternatively, it looks like many of the snappy houses are large enough for the 1x1 plots or interior plots to fit inside.

Without having a clearer understanding of what you want I don't know what else I could advise.
