Question Invalid Plug-In

I am having a problem with importing settlement layouts.

I export the settlement layout, go to the Settlement Layout Plugin Creator webpage and create my plug in.

When I try to import this plugin into Vortex I get the following message:

Vortex is designed to install mod from archives but this doesn’t look like one. Do you want to create a mod containing just this file?

If I respond, Create Mod, then Vortex installs it but won’t sort it. Says it is not a Valid Plugin.

This only happens with settlements added by mods. Vanilla settlements and DLC settlements work fine.

It doesn’t matter if I choose ESP, ESL, combined, or one settlement layout at a time.

Vortex did handle Mod-added settlements in my last play-through and I can even still import those saved plug-ins. However, Vortex will not sort my more recently created settlement layout plugins.

Saving settlement builds for use in future play-throughs is my favorite feature of this mod and it’s a shame if that feature will only work on vanilla and DLC settlements.

Does anyone have any ideas?

You can either create a zip file for each Layout plugin then drag/drop into Vortex on the Mod tab or add the plugin files to ...\Steam\...\Fallout 4\data then enable them on the Plugin tab in Vortex.

The load order for layouts really doesn't matter much. Vortex should load them after any masters automatically.

Thank you for your response.

I thought adding the Layout plugin(s) directly to the Fallout Data Folder would work, too. I’ve already tried that and no such luck. Vortex still gives me the same message that it/they are not a valid plugin.

Your idea of creating a zip file and dragging into the Vortex mod tab is interesting, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it right. Am I correct in thinking you mean the Vortex dashboard, with its mod tab? I created the zip, but when I tried dragging in, it doesn’t move. Nothing is added to Vortex. The only ways I know to add a plug-in to Vortex are “Install from File” or adding it directly to the Fallout Data folder.

What is vexing (and intriguing) me is that this is only happening with layouts from settlements added by mods. Vanilla and DLC settlement layouts work with no problems.
