I would love to see an option to only enable the info box overlay when in workshop mode.

I play with iHUD and my head canon for all the settlement UI is that my character enters a build mode with the pip boy causing the HUD, I also think the info box is awesome and hate toggling it on and off every time I want to see it!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there exactly that option available in the holotape and MCM?

Not as far as I have seen but there is a significant chance I've missed it! All I could find was the option to hotkey toggle or turn the feature on or off completely.
 
There's some option for visibility where you can chose 'always' 'workshop mode' or 'never'. It applys to the stat window of the settlements. Not sure if that's what you mean.

I've had a quick look and the option only appears to be for Status Meters and Resource Panel, not the Info Box which is a separate HUD element.
 
I turned the info box off and set a hotkey. Put what you want to see the info box on in the cross hair and hit the hotkey. I'm pretty sure it works in workshop mode.
You need MCM to set hotkeys.
 
Could you please send a screenshot which info box you mean? I've got a feeling I'm not thinking straight... :/

No problem, this is the box I'm talking about. It's referred to as "Info Box" in the MCM I believe.

I’ve been attempting this myself however my setup seems to be a little inconsistent with hot keys press detection, I would personally prefer it just have the ability to be linked with the other HUD elements but I understand the implementation is different so I do wonder if it is possible
