Update 02/01/2022: This is now part of the 2.0.0m patch.

----

This is a public beta for a prevention of the HQ Reset bug in existing saves, as well as a tool to attempt to recover an HQ that suffered from it.

I'm looking for folks to help test and verify this before we push this into an actual live patch so we are sure it is safe, (and also before we pay out the bounty!)

Simply download this file and extract it to your Fallout 4\Data\ directory. If you use a mod manager with virtual file system (ex. if you ever do profile swapping, this will likely be set up) you'll need to extract these to where your mod manager is storing the mod files and overwrite them.

- If you haven't had the HQ Reset bug, and are playing on a character created before the 2.0.0L patch released yesterday - you can test that it worked by doing the following:

1. If you haven't made it to, or hadn't finished How to HQ: Finish the main quest up through the end of How to HQ, and then proceed to the next step.
2. If you already finished How to HQ: Head to Diamond City and use the console command: passtime 24 30 times, each time exiting the console to ensure the game hasn't locked up. Then head back to HQ and if all the stuff you built is there - you're in the clear!

- If you have already had the HQ Reset bug, head to HQ and remain on the main floor, then launch the City Manager holotape and go to Tools > Advanced > Quest Fixes > HQ Reset Issue and run that fix. It may take a few minutes, afterwards a pop up will tell you what to do next.

Looking for as many confirmations as possible for both issues so we can declare this bug 100% stomped!

ok so the population fix worked and it also looks as if the HQ reset fix also workes so far

it did however create a second layer of double doors at the entrance to the main hall from the sec room could be a glitch ( looks like it made a overlaping copy of the sec foyer room so that is double wooden doors but also fence doors!

another thing i did not get the message of not leaving the HQ untill about 6 minutes afther i ran the fix and was already at another settlement to ward of a atack!

but all things considered a nice solution and so far it works

I ran it both ways (reloading saves to switch methods) and noticed no difference. I'm not sure I had the reset bug, but I still have the bug that prevents the foyer from being able to be cleaned or repaired. Also have all my workers grumbling about what a dump the place is.

i dont know if that is part of the HQ reset bug wich resets the hq to just all rooms cleaned and no resources available status and for me at least it seams to have worked!

The Foyer doesn't become available until after you complete Is There a Doctor in the House. Did you get that far?

That's probably the issue but I can't complete the Is There a Doctor mission as there is no option to upgrade the Med Lab. Got 10 people in Engineering and 5 in Science and still no option.

So regarding the cell reset bug I'm not sure if I have it here in this screenshot or not. On the left the Infirmary still looks like the run down office that it is in the vanilla game and on the right the fountain and the offices are cleaned up and refurbished so is this by design or is it the cell reset bug?

Cell Reset bug will remove everything built during the tutorial, so as soon as you arrive - you'll find the front entry way devoid of most items.

i think my first playthrough save had the reset issue, want me to try it out and give my feedback on it?? i'd actually like this save fixed if that was the case cause it's the one i started my youtube on and i had to switch to another one cause of the bug

Yeah! I want as many tests as I can get in the next week or so before I push it live.

Well, the jury is still out, because I only had time to put an hour into testing it, but... It seems to have recovered my already-reset HQ in the middle of How-To-HQ.

The only thing I noticed was that the vending machine on the first floor, back near the rotunda South of the broadcasting studio, did not auto-refresh from the holotape fix. But, that was before I walked out of GNN, and back in (after waiting about 20 minutes after the on-screen instructions told me to), and I forgot to check again after zoning into GNN (which successfully refreshed my resource menu - I also forgot to try to assign settlers to work). Sorry, it's late, and I can't think beyond 10 seconds.

I'll try to give it another go tomorrow with a full mod load order (it'll be nice to have clothes again), and see if there are any long(er) term effects.

Great Progress!!!

I Can confirm the fix worked for me on my save, took about 5 minutes but things started re-appearing, thanks for the fix now i can continue my playthrough, too

I've tried it on one savegame with a reset HQ so far and played a few hours. It took about 5 minutes for the notice to appear then about 10 or 15 minutes for rooms to re-appear and (more importantly) the max numbers to go back to normal (might have been less, I just let it run). I then built a few living quarters and sent more settlers to HQ and so far it's been working like charm. Looks like it's fixed, but I'll try on another playthrough as well.
Update: Tried it on my other playthrough and after about an hours of testing it seems to work there as well. Thumbs up!

I would love to test but the tutorial is already throwing barricades up, could not complete it once in a normal fashion.
Since I was stuck on the assignment of Aiden, no clue where you can do that. The securitydesk at the entrance with the terminal on it, does not allow me to do it. I could not find any
other place. So I used the cheat menu to skip ahead. Things got only more confusing in the basement, on what to clean where, on what to place where, it was grinding, boring, took lot's of time and lot's of crashes. So to get the HQ reset for me will be tricky.
When I left HQ and continued my normal gameplay, everything went back normal, the saves also the crashing (CTD's) I was able to place something again without an instant CTD.

This too, is my biggest complaint with a heavy focus on GRINDING and BORING.

did u check if u already have a research ques topen it blocks construction stages i found out ;-)

Hi

I'm new to the forum but I've played Sim Settlements and Sim Settlements 2 a lot.
I got the HQ rest bug and tried "HQ Reset Recovery Tool", it took 15 minutes and then everything was back.
Not only are the rooms back, but also the number of sleeping places and workplaces in the departments is right again.
I've only played for a few hours since using the tool, so I don't know if the bug will come back.
Thank you for making such a great mod with Sim Settlement and for constantly developing it further.

Hope you find a fix for the long save bug too.
Unfortunately, I have that too, but I use more than 100 mods so I think that the error is mine because I use so many mods at the same time.

We all have it, people with only the basics for SS2 installed or people with bigger lists, 100, 300, 500. We all keep rooting very hard for a solution, I made it to HQ it's such a great story so far, it deserves smooth gameplay purely for the content only.
