How do I "start" Sim Settlements 2

I started a new game after updating Workshop Framework to v2.0.5 and SS2 to v1.0.0f. I played through the first 6 quests in the main questline with no problem.

Load order seems to be important.
  1. UOF4P (if used)
  2. HUD Framework
  3. Workshop Framework
  4. SS2
  5. The Rest...

For many bugs, I am also seeing folks forgetting to update WSFW.
Additional Suggestion:
in the console make a hard save right before updating each SS2 patch.
example -
save v100fUpdate or some such.
If a patch seems buggy go back to that hard save but this time find a place in an internal cell away from a settlement and then manually download and update the SS2 patch.
then "WALK" back to a settlement "don't fast TVL" and see.
 
was testing this out back when this first released started a new game.I cant get main quest to start for life of me. everything is update, load order is right... I have been waiting in Sanctuary Hills for a few days now.. Waiting the stranger to show up

Might be a silly question, but you DID build and power a regular Recruitment Beacon right?
 
yes I have, made sure it was OG Fallout 4 radar.( dont think that matters) Put radar at the Red Rocket as well. Waited for about 2 days, still nothing. if I had Jake Ref ID could force it .moveto player comand. This brand new game everything related to this mod was up to date. Right mod order ect ect... I am level 36 or because like doing railroad first then get into minutemen. ( I didn't think time or level would matter)
 
I can confirm I'm having the same issue. Even when I run an entirely minimal load order with nothing but the unofficial patch, HUDFramework, Workshop Framework, SS2, start me up and the MCM. All of them up to date. Fallout is latest version. FSKE is latest version. Order is UF -> HUDFramework -> Workshop framework -> SS2. I get to santuary, the robco magazine is there, I take it and make a beacon and nothing happens other than settlers showing up.
 
The magazine location is not really a spoiler - you are meant to find it - it is on the workbench in sanctuary - a location everyone should go to fairly early in the game.

If the magazine is not there, then either;
SS2 is not installed correctly.
You need the latest (yes, check, yes, I know you updated it a while ago, no really...go check..) version of workshop framework.

the mag was the first thing I picked up.... day six waiting for the Stranger to show up.... look around making sure he wasnt some place... nothing. Might have start over, but ill wait a few days see anyone has some help here
 
Well It is first quest before you talk to anyone. Come out of the vault pick up the mag, put up the tower. Stranger comes in and all is well. All I had to do and it fixed everything. Jake will ask you to help in concord, you deal with that. Help Preston and get him on his way. GG

Mmmm ok great and what do we do when Jake doesn't show?

Are you using this for more than skipping the pre-war? I have heard that Start Me Up causes problems with SS2 if you skip the vault. From what I've read, you have to exit the vault with the elevator to get SS2 to start properly.

I've never used any starting mods, i started a new game wo ss2 and im in another location, i plan to install it now and go back to sanctuary, i miss the ss2 characters LOL, hope it works.

how long does it normally take for the stranger to show up?
A minute at most, depending on where it spawns him, since he walks towards you once he pops, and sometimes it might not put him right next to you. (Starlight Drive-in is notorious for that, since the Settler Spawn Point there is outside the Build Zone - you don't strictly HAVE to do the SS2 Questline starting in Sanctuary, even picking up the magazine is technically optional)
 
If the magazine is not showing up, that's an indicator that SS2 is not loading. Check to make sure it is enabled.
