Hotfix 2.0.0L

This is a big one! The HQ Cell Reset bug will no longer occur for characters created after this patch! Huge shout out to the Patrons who made it possible for me to afford the massive bounties that caught the attention of the devs with engine level monitoring experience to pinpoint the cause!

Full patch notes below:

  • Fixed a data corruption in the Vault75Location override in SS2.esm.
  • Fixed a bug for some players where Captain Wes would be missing during the encounter during “End of the Beginning”.
  • Fixed a bug during the meeting dialogue with the recruitable character “Fishfood” that would cause the conversation to appear stuck.
  • Fixed a bug in the quest “Knowledge Equals Profit” where players could reuse the same item over and over to turn in the quest multiple times.
  • Fixed a bug where if the player completed the quest “Casting a Line” peacefully, the raiders would be left behind indefinitely. They should now be cleaned up the next time the player teleports to an interior. This fix is not retroactive, so existing saves may still have the raiders present.
  • Fixed a bug where attacking synths would respawn regularly near the scavver camp from the quest “Red Handed” even after the quest was completed. This fix is not retroactive, so existing saves may still have the synths present.
  • Berman and Captain Wes now correctly have PC Level Multiplier flag set, which should give them enough health to feel more like boss fights.
  • Fixed a bug during “Moving Day” where the player’s companion could speak some of Jake’s lines.
  • Modified the scripts for the quest “How to HQ” to try and eliminate an issue where some number of NPCs fail to be counted as part of HQ.
  • Fixed clipping issues with the outfits for Stodge, Joe Gallagher, and Fishfood.
  • Added several missing lines from Craig while trapped in the cage during the quest “Branigan’s Bounty”.
  • Fixed a bug that could eventually cause the HQ Cell to reset.
    • Unfortunately, this fix is not retroactive - though we have some potential means we are investigating to prevent and recover this on existing saves created before this fix.
  • [XBox] Regenerated the HQ “Room Control” ASAM Sensor texture to try and fix an issue where it was displaying as missing.
  • Fixed a bug where Lena and Simon would stop responding as expected between when the quest "War is Good for Business" is started and the quest "End of the Beginning" is finished.

Xbox players, the versions to watch for when you can safely update are: 43 of SS2, and version 16 of Chapter 2.

I'm still investigating solutions to prevent the HQ Reset on existing characters, or recover from it if it already occurred - likely will post Public Betas this week to see if the ideas work.

"Long save issue", you're days are numbered you son-of-a-b*tch! Whole Fallout community is on to you now! (EDIT: forgot we have a hilarious swear filter that changes colorful words to "I love you")

I love you too, long save times.

I have purple windows in the atrium. There's a few minor glitches on rooms as well, but honestly this is my fifth game to try to get to this so I don't even care. I'm running a Series X and it's driving me nuts with crashing in my settlements, no matter how small the settlement. So, off center doors and random paintings floating in Halls is the least of my concern
I just downloaded this mod set a couple weeks ago and it's been killing me. I had built the rotc plan at sunshine and it crashed so hard on save I lost everything from day 1 until then.. almost cried
I have only 3 other mods besides SS2, chapter 2, HUD and workshop now, and it's a bit better. Still gotta slow motion walk into most of my settlements and stare at the ground, but I'll take it lmao
I was playing before the update and didn't have purple windows. I only realized the update was there because I crashed running through the halls ( I knew better and did it anyway ‍♀️)
I really love this mod and want to thank you and your team for all the incredible work creating this. It's definitely made me stop playing ESO and jump back into this game head first!!
I have the same problem on my Series S to the point that I pulled my old Xbox One X out to use for this game. It stutters and the frame rate goes to pieces in the HQ, but I don't have all the settlement lockups I have on the Series S. I thought about using Workshop Framework to minimize the number of threads available to see if that would help with the crashing....I've also done things like use the "Cheat Terminal" mod to travel vs. normal fast travel....that helps sometimes, but also can cause problems if the script only completed if you left a particular building in the correct way. I also find (maybe) that if I clear my xbox cache more often the Series S fails less.....but it always fails...

I'm running wsfw, hudfr, cheat terminal ( because this is my fifth attempt at this quest line and I'm tired lol) other than that I'm only running a couple other mods that aren't SS2 and Chpt 2.. I have dismantled almost all of my settlements residential plots and use vanilla beds and housing trying to reduce the constant crashes just going to settlements. I have basic plots for scrap and caravan and municipal. I've went with vanilla shop stalls. It's definitely driving me nuts not being able to travel to even a small settlement to defend it without crashing to home. I lost all my original game due to a massive crash at sunshine. I'm hoping if I get out my old school xbox one, some of my original non modded character will be there, but who knows. I love this mod and it's story lines, but crashing so much has definitely made me bummed. My HQ has soo much done now as far as repairs and room setup I might cry if I start for a sixth time lol

A lot of the xbox issues will be alleviated when we solve the long save issue, but one thing Xbox will always struggle with is heavily built up settlements - particularly large city plans.

Best thing I can recommend for Xbox players is to turn off the automatic upgrades for city plans, and the performance > Clutter setting. With City Auto Upgrades off, you can make a save before manually triggering the upgrade after its eligible, and see how your game handles it. If it's bad or crashes, just roll back to that save and leave it at a lower level.

For the clutter setting, turning that off will reduce the number of items plots/city plans spawn. In the future, we'll apply this to HQ as well.

I don't run any city plans. I tried when I first started the mod a couple weeks ago, but it was RoTC plans and it just didn't work out. That's what I was running at Sunshine when my system went boom .. so I took the mod off that had those plans. The only city plan option I have is the single level basic ones, and even those are tough on most areas. I have just been setting up things manually. I did see another thread a few days ago about the clutter and turned it off. I'll look at the upgrade settings and try that. You guys did amazing work with this and I definitely don't wanna stop running it. It's better than the original by far. I just have to figure out how to work around my crashing issues and find a way to enjoy as much as possible without dumbing it down.
I have never even thought about a gaming PC until now. I swear, if I'm going to drop a butt load of money, this mod would be the reason why.
I started looking into PC gaming systems a couple days ago. Any advice on those is definitely welcome. Some of the ones I looked at were 4k a pop.. ouch lol
I give you and your whole team mad props. I can't imagine the hours, blood, sweat and tears you've all put into this. It's extraordinary

I played through that quest yesterday without issue while investigating the HQ. Will probably need to see some saves with the issue to find out what combination of things have to occur to get him in that state.
I might have some information that might help. When I wrote my last post, I pretty much just quit - I didn't have any more time to play, anyway. Today I had some time.

I learned that if you shoot Jake enough, he will turn hostile, into an enemy. It's weird behavior because he'll attack, and then he'll say some 'cowardly' things (by cowardly I mean within the context of the game, not as a characterization of Jake) like "the better part of valor!" but he'll keep attacking, and even after 72 hours, he's still hostile. Permanently? This might be something you wanna look into. When I met Algernon, I could have sworn you were gonna throw Conquest at us. So maybe pissing Jake off could be part of the story at some point, and you can move forward with Aiden or Algernon.

But then something else happened - I got a notification to listen to Jake's private frequency, and he said he'd be in the Atrium. Previously, he'd been just outside the (newly added by you) locked gate outside the broadcast room, around the corner a bit. So I thought that was weird, but it didn't do anything. He was still hostile when I came back.

Reloaded my save, turned in a couple side quests, basically waited for the "Listen to Jake's private frequency" to pop. And sure enough, after a couple days (note that Moving Day was already an active quest), it did. Went to GNN, and lo and behold, Jake is in the atrium where he says, and I noticed something else, the cell reset. There's a plastic box next to the elevator, and previously it only had an empty Nuka-Cola bottle. Now it had a Quantum in it that definitely wasn't there before - hence my statement the cell reset. (I'm not a programmer or a dev, I hear these phrases thrown around and I mostly know what they mean, and I assume a lot.) Also, Jake's pathing worked as seemingly intended.

My conclusion is that the Moving Day quest is broken because the quest itself starts before the quest trigger, which is the cell reset which brings on the radio frequency. If you start Moving Day and talk to Jake before those things happen, he will start his dialogue, but he will not move from his last battle position from the siege. The problem is that nothing is motivating the player to leave, so if at the end of the siege, you have Jake tell you to check in on your settlements (and maybe force a random interaction, e.g. a side quest that gets you a new settler), that would allow you to reset the GNN cell.

It seems to me that in the Bethesda engine, between Skyrim and Fallout 4/Sim Settlements, you have these moments when an ordinary cell is transformed for a special event. Setting aside pre-war Sanctuary (that's in a whole other world space), you have the attacks on Whiterun, Solitude, and Windhelm in Skyrim, and then in Sim Settlements, you have the attack on Vault 81. So once that's done, you can't just turn around and go back in and expect to do Vault 81 quests since you're still in the attack-mode Vault 81 - or at least I assume that is the case. But in all of these instances, the player is motivated by the course of the game to leave and allow the cell to reset, so when they come back, it's the regular area. SS2 Chapter 2 didn't do that, so in my case I was already there, the quest moved forward, and I got stuck. I knew the solution would be to leave and come back, and when I got the radio broadcast, the solution became clearer.

Hope it helps - now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta get back to the game. Suffice it to say I'm a bit hooked. I was never really a fan of SS1, though I liked the idea. SS2 had the story, and other than Jake being a bit corny and a rough start, it's at least the second or third best main quest in the game, if we consider it one (and as of Chapter 2, we should). As of Chapter 2, it's easily the best main story in the game. So, not knowing your future plans, if I may advise - look at what Thuggysmurf and his people have done with those mods (sometimes called Thuggyverse). It's a lot of T&A, but it integrates stuff from past games, and it works its way into the main story. I don't like those mods for what they are, but I like those mods for how they do what they do. SS2 seems to take a hands-off approach with the main story - it's fine with you doing it or not - but I'd like to see it become, truly, the main story. We have a saying in the Skyrim community: "I don't play Skyrim anymore, I play Legacy of the Dragonborn." That's a mod that adds a museum and a guild and integrates a handful of mods, has a ton of mod support, and has changed the way people play. Sound familiar? I'd love to say the same about SS2, which is why it was important to say I was never a fan of SS1. SS1, on its own, didn't give me a motivation to do the SS stuff. SS2 makes you do it to an extent, but it also makes me want to do more with it, and with a bit more of a push (not so much hand holding), I think it could be something bigger. Anyway, I gone on long enough about it. It's just an idea, and I can't wait to see what this mod does next.

Was actualy able to recruit Cassandra for the first time and so far, no HQ reset (that was under version k) . However, sometime, exept for the total numbers of occupants in the HQ, the UI dosen't want to load. Is there a way to force it? Also, now, I can hear and see splash of water in the atrium.

Hi, just wanted to clarify something that was mentioned in another thread, because I haven't been to the HQ yet and I'd prefer not to start a new save. I started this playthrough with Chapter 2 installed and it's been over 30 in-game days, and I haven't started End of the Beginning yet. Does this mean I won't get the HQ cell reset bug during this playthrough? Thanks.
effectivly if its been more then 30 game days since Ch 2 and u have not even atacked GNN yet u should be fine anyways its just for us lucky few that had completed Ch1 and rushed thru the main quest that got burned with this bug

The basic plans included with ss2 are very light weight single level plans I’ve rarely had issues with them. Rotc on the other hand I can’t run well.

Are you running xbox or PC? I'm running the Series X and it's still glitchy for me. I have deleted several mods in hopes that has been the issue. I started my 6th attempt at a playthrough yesterday after another massive crash.. I haven't built any city plans at all yet.. just installing plots manually and keeping it to bare essential stuff.. I've turned off clutter, auto upgrades, skins, etc...

I’m on pc so I know it’s a bit more stable then the series x. As far as mods I run a basic load order with about 150 mods and more then a few of those are stuff for buffout 4 and ss2 addon packs so nothing crazy.

I'm running in this order... WSFW, UFO4P, SEO (settlement electricity overhaul)and CH2, raze my settlement and place anywhere (and only recently because several folks in here speak highly about both), HUDfr, cheat terminal (added after my first massive crash that cost me my day one saves because I'm tired of starting over), uncapped settlement surplus, unlimited resource shipment, and insignificant object remover ( I saw a post that said this could possibly help from KG with warnings mind you)
That's my whole list. Does anything look like an issue from your point of view?
Iam excited for chp 3, but with the issues my system is having navigating this right now, I'm skeered lol
Also, looking at buying a pc just for this kinda stuff.. any suggestions? Because I know zero about PCs for that specific need. I've been an Xbox gal for...well forever.. since the original lol.. I'm old enough to have owned an atari lol

Don’t see anything that looks out of place or an issue my only questionable one would be seo as ss2 does a few things with the power grid in settlements. My guess would be it interferes with the powered plot objects in the ss2 settings. But I don’t know enough about it to say for sure.

as far as hudfw that’s a mod that has a lot of ties with ss2. I’ve used insignificant object remove no issues on that part as it only removes stuff labeled as grass.

id probably load your stuff something like this.
1 unoffical patch
2 workshop framework
3 ss2
4 hudfw
5 insignificant object remover
6 any ss2 addons
7 the rest of the mods seo place anywhere and probably dead ass last would be raze my settlement it doesn’t need to be last but unless your loading something that effects precombines that’s about all I’d load after it.

not saying it will help with anything but that should get you started as a load order. Last part always either enable the self powered plots or make sure to wire everything by hand in the settlements as the city plans don’t do it on Xbox and on pc it misses stuff as well.

How does the Series X perform? I have asked around but I have not found anyone using an X and SS2.
I am on a series S, which I bought just to play this. I am playing SS2 on its lowest settings and graphics turned way down. It still struggles a lot.
Waiting to get an X and see what the difference is.
Over all the Series S performs well for a $300 console. From cold start to playing in less than 1 minute. Handles modded FO4 pretty well, just not SS2. I was playing on an old PS4 before.

I've been hella careful (as far as I know) with breaking precombines. I only use raze mostly to gather and remove the corpses. I scrap very few trees but do scrap cars, tires, etc. I've been running the seo for a long time and it hasn't given me any issues, but you could be right with the power grid thing. I do know that it's powering up the plots, even before I unlocked the power station. The only thing it won't power are light poles on commercial plots. I hadn't used the municipal power grid because of that reason. I was just adding generators to power the lights instead. I'll look at that and see about removing it just in case.
I appreciate your time and help. It's definitely been frustrating to say the least crashing and starting from scratch over and over. I'm just now at the point in the quest line where I've placed the sensors for mala and I've claimed very few settlements, so as to take my time building and seeing if adding anything specific starts my crash episodes. I know the housing bugs out something awful, but even the vanilla bed count has issues. I've been manually upgrading those after some advice KG gave me and I think it's helped with the issue some.
Thanks again! :)

Honestly, I love this console. I'm retired and I game A LOT! LOL I play ESO quite a bit. Until finding this mod, that's all I played.
The fps boost is nice, but I'm not sure it isn't part of my issue with this game right now. It gets clunky at times, even in areas far outside my settlements. I've had a ton of crash issues, but I'm not sure if that is my other mods interfering or what. I can't use RoTC plans at all. Once they're built, if I travel to a settlement, boom... machine gunned to home screen. It's a lot for this system is my understanding.
I use very few mods as you can see in my earlier post, and I'm sure that helps. However, I'm not sure that one of those isn't giving me compatibility issues, so I'm going to reorder them as was suggested and see how it goes.
I was running the original Xbox one until about 6 months ago, so I don't know how graphics look on the S... but man... games are BEAUTIFUL on this badboy!
Fine details are crazy.
I guess that's a long answer. My short answer is no matter what you play, I would say the Series X is worth every dime lol

I like the long answer. Most and only feed back I have got.
Series S handles graphics well, not great. Better then PS4. Currently I got Xbox set to 720p, so doesn't look great. When I started it was set to 1080 and it looked good.
I get CTD in FO4 modded but no SS2. Just part of the base engine. Had the same issue on PS4.

I just did a guide on Load orders I posted on this forum. Check it out it might help. I did a lot of research on mods before using them.

I retired from the Army in 2015 but still work. I am an IT "help" desk slug now.
