Always wanted a large tent for my military outposts and no one made one so I made it myself. I originally had a better texture with a nice looking normal map for that wavey, draping look but because of the way the different models use the texture (despite making the texture and normals seamless) it would never line up correctly on the different pieces. So I used this simpler texture to allow the entire tent to look as seamless as possible.

E.x the doorway model uses the top right quarter of the texture, the wall used the bottom left quarter, the roofs all used the entire texture, but the corner roof tiles the texture 8 times. Ergo, none of the textures would line up lol. I'm new at this.

That is cool :crazy

Good-lord hahahaha, of course, it is. It's a tent.

I think this is a great idea. :good

I was a combat engineer, we used to call them a "strong-back tent." Which is just a constructed wooden frame that we would put a tent over. Just a bit more durable than ploes and stakes and got folks up off the dirt as the frame would have a plywood floor. :clap

:happy

So I just learned about UV map editing in nifskope so I'm going to remake it with the high fidelity textures that are truely seamless and repost.

Thank you for letting us know. :bye

yep, hidden.

@Liberty Bull

I don't know if you know just how good of a job you did here. The wooden frames you see would get a GP-MED tent pulled over the top. The Green canvas would then just be tied down on them vs using the wooden poles that came with them.

Believe me. I am an expert on these and you did about as good of a representation in your mod as one can get in a game.

The pictures above are from US combat operations in Somalia Africa.
The camp was constructed by US Army Engineers to get a Marine Batallion out of the dirt.
"Perspective - this is a place where a real-world variation of bloat flys are a very-very real thing." The would literally bite you and a week or so later a cyst would form and when lanced were filled with fly larva. Really the least of their problems given the other wildlife. So, it was a good thing to get them out of the dirt.

A little history:
This was a place about half of a day E-NE of Baidoa, "it was not gods country." The Marines were trying to interdict the Somali children-for-weapons slave trade in-and-out of neighboring Ethiopia while Somlie raiders harried them from bases just inside of Kenya. At the time, this was a very bad place. We also helped the French with similar but on a smaller scale.

Oh, I like Gunny and all, he may approve.

The dude below constructed and lived in tents very much like yours here. He thinks you got it right. hahahaha!

post-ammo-cache raid. they were trying to hide their stuff. We blew it up for them.

Sneak peak of the second variant I am working on. The scaffolding piece is part of the tent wall object mesh so its purely decorative, it doesn't influence the snap points, collision or anything. The poles stick down below a couple feet in case you are pitching the tent on uneven ground.

A quick idea comes to mind, what if you make a variant that looks like it's made up of furs and hides, kinda like a more yurt looking theme or just something makeshift that fits that they're made by wastelanders. Going full nomad theme with these either way.

Not sure how believable I can make that with only retexturing, but I can give it a shot.
