Greentop Research and Development.

This is the first time I'm taking part in one of these contest, so let me be the first to introduce you to the future of agriculture...

5 years ago, a group of scientists from the Institute sought to use their advanced science to improve the state agriculture for the Commonwealth. When they were denied this, they exiled themselves to the wasteland to fulfil their vision.
After much hardship, the scientists discover a group of settlers that were using an abandoned greenhouse as a farm. Combining their scientific knowledge and wasteland know-how, the scientists and settlers worked together to create Greentop Research and Development. Today, Greentop RnD is the Commonwealth's most advanced agriculture and health research centre, providing healthy, radiation-free food for the Commonwealth.

Welcome!
First screenshot is building outside the boundaries, plus 5 layers active....... Looking forward to seeing the rest of it.

I thought we were allowed to build outside of boundaries as long as we don't put any plots outside.I added letters to the billboard just outside Greentop because I thought it world be the prefect place to advertise the settlement.

Also, is there a limit to the amount of layers we can have?

You absolutely are allowed to go outside. Layers and the use of them have no bearing on the contest, so you can have as many as you like up to the hard limit of 15.

The point I was making, and I should've worded it better, is the sceenshot shows you're using advanced building techniques in your first entry, so I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of it.

Exciting! Nice tease.

Audio transmission transcript - received 22/6/87 - origins east Malden.

"Hunger, thirst, disease. The Commonwealth is plagued by them. Food shortages are so common these days that many have come to accept them as a simple fact of life. But does it have to be this way? Well, we're on a mission to change that and we want you to join us.

My name is Dr. Miller and I welcome you to Greentop Research and Development."

"Five years ago, My colleagues and I had a dream. To use advanced science to improve wasteland agriculture and distribution. We envisioned a system where we could grow and deliver healthy, radiation-free food to any long suffering settlement in the Commonwealth. Yet, when we present our proposal to our superiors, we were denied our dream."

"Undeterred, we ventured out into the Commonwealth and encountered a group of settlers living in abandoned greenhouse nursery. Combining our scientific background with their wasteland knowledge, we have turned their farm into one of most advanced agriculture research centre in the Commonwealth. While this has taken a lot of hard work and much pain, we believe we have created something truly special here.

But I'm sure by now you're eager to see the compound for yourself, so why don't I give you a tour?"

"We begin, of course, with the greenhouse. While this building may not appear to have changed much in 210 years, we've upgraded it with new equipment and work stations, allowing to serve as the heart of our operations."

b94xWpB.jpg

"From the greenhouse, food is sent to our new factory and distribution centre. We've transform this ruined house into a modern work place, the likes of which have not been seen in Commonwealth since the Great War."

Bl8wJRk.jpg

"Inside our factory, food from the greenhouse is cleaned, prepared and packaged, ready to send anywhere in the Commonwealth."

6mQjM6h.jpg

"From our factory, packaged food is sent to our distribution centre via conveyor belt. From here, our provisioners will collect the packages and deliver them to where ever they're need to go."

tFVFwgi.jpg

"Yet as we improve our product, our caravans become increasing at risk from raiders and bandits. This is why we're developing the provisioner of tomorrow. The prototype "Fridge-Bot" is bullet and radiation resistant, allowing him to safely deliver food to anywhere in the commonwealth."

8tKjvnV.jpg

"Of course, what I'm sure all of you are really interested in is the large green building near to the factory. Allow me persent the Greentop Research and Development Laboratories, or "The Green Tower" as we've come to call it."

DZ71f9t.jpg

"Here in the Green Tower, our leading scientists are developing new and better to grow our crops. While I can't go into details, perhaps we can take a peek to see what they're working on next."

9O541FE.jpg

"Downstairs, we have our office. Here, our bookkeepers take of the endless paperwork that comes with our work. This is where we also communicate with our provisioners and other settlements through radio, allowing us to remotely operate our services."

hEUjHdT.jpg

"And here we have our top floor boardroom. In here, we discuss issues with our scientists and representatives from other settlements. We also interview new settlers in here, who have come to Greentop to work with us. We hope to see you in this room very soon."

H4dwQLU.jpg

"But I've talked a lot about what we do. The question is, what can we do for you as our new employee? Here is our new apartment complex, where our settlers live. With solid walls, air condition, communal kitchen and bathroom, we offer comfortable wasteland living."

GWKCTiG.jpg

"Next to our apartment complex we have our market street. Providing food, goods and entertainment, it's our little slice of Bunker Hill here in Greentop."

CxczP7Z.jpg

"And of course, no trip to Greentop would be complete with a visit to Slocum's Joe. Based off the pre-war coffee chain found in the ruined town nearby, Slocum's Joe sells food fresh from the green house and piping hot coffee. Open late, Slocum's Joe is favourite with visitors and god send to our hard working employees."

x2MiyQU.jpg

"We've come a long in the past few years, but we're only getting started. We'll continue moving forward, to ensure a Commonwealth where no one need's to hungry. If you're ready to work for a better future, join us at Greentop Research and Development."

Bravo, @supercrunchbravo! This settlement is fantastic. The fridge-bot was absolutely hilarious and 110% Fallout. I think the construction of the Green tower is my favourite, though. It feels believably post-war even with how substantial it is and I love that you made the rectangular tendencies of the workshop an asset with it.

On a bookkeeping note, though, make sure you update your first post with your final 10 images. If I remember correctly, they only look at the first post in the judging and only at 10 images.

Ditto on the Fridge-Bot! Totally reminds me of the ridiculousness of the Securitron or Drinkin' Buddy. Also I know it's not explicitly stated but might this be created by ex institute members? Love the build!

Fantastic!

I, too, am a big fan of FridgeBot.

Thanks. But yes, the settlement is partly founded by ex institute members. I wanted to create a scientific faction who actually wanted to help the Commonwealth. They're a bit like the Followers of the Apocalypse. I was wonder if I should of kept it secret, but it seems the cat's out of the bag now.

I'm also glad Fridge-Bot is getting so much love.
