Google+ Log-in not working

I came to this forum to post a suggestion for Sim Settlements. Clicking on login/sign-up, I see a button for "log in with Google+". I have a Google+ account, that would be really convenient. But clicking on the button does nothing, I had to create an account the old-fashioned way.

Make sure to keep posts respectful to avoid moderator actions.
I just said "I pressed the button and nothing happened", what part of that do you not understand? I did not get an option to "allow google+ when requested"
I have successfully logged in to other websites on the day in question.

and he created a new account using google+ 13 minutes after you posted. So, clearly more testing and information is needed to find the source of the issue you had, and probably fewer condescending comments toward the person you are asking for help.

What browser were you using? What version of that browser are you running? Is your Google+ account an @gmail.com address or linked to some other account type? Does your google account have 2-factor authentication enabled?

I was confirming that the issue isnt with the server/website.

I doubt it is an issue with too many tokens, as I have used it on less than a dozen sites.

I am using Firefox 52.2.1, my email is an @gmail account, and I am not using 2 step verification.

To the guy who successfully used Google+, do you have "use less secure apps" enabled?

kevbaltest is obviously my alt so dont be alramed at my reply for him hahaha.

My settings are: "Allow less secure apps: OFF"
I dont use sign in via social media on accounts i care about but when I do I certainly wouldn't use my credentials on a non secure site or a falsely secured site.

I didn't mean to come across as rude, but it felt like when you said "Just created this account with google+. you need to allow google plus access when requested", you meant "It works for me, so there's nothing wrong", and thus just dismissed my problem, and that tends to get under my skin.

That, and I have pet peeve of "support representatives" seemingly ignoring what I've written, and giving me a cookie cutter response.

"I pressed the button and nothing happened" contradicts with "you need to allow google plus access when requested". Nothing happened means no pop up, no request to "allow".
It felt like my claim had been outright dismissed.

It's a oauth redirect_uri_mismatch problem I think. You have to be using ssl for the allowed referrers to work.

i.e. make sure you are at 'https://simsettlements.com' before you use the google link and not 'http://simsettlements.com'

Weird, I thought I had the htaccess set up to force https. It might been screwed up when we were fixing the wiki permissions.

Are you going it through a literal .htaccess file or in the webserver? not a huge deal with the volume of traffic here but htaccess relies on overrides and directory traversal. Sometimes its easier to ignore the app layer and just get apache/nginx to take care of it.

Yeah using an actual htaccess. We were tweaking things so much trying to get all this software working that I got tired of rebooting apache all the time.

Apache should be pretty cool with graceful restarts. Feel free to ping me if you want, the server farm I'm tending now is a hundred+ instances.

Actually, maybe you can help with an issue that several of us struck out on- getting off of the yahoo blacklist. I've set up email servers before, but i clearly botched something with this site.

It looks like Firefox uses a pop-up for this, can you check if its pop-up blocker is kicking in?

I think I'm on a newer version of Firefox (54.0.1), so maybe that's it?

We're using Xenforo software for the forum and the google+ login, so our hands are kind of tied if it's a software bug. I'll check if it's a known issue and make sure we're on the latest version.
