Possibly led by you and Jake in order to defeat another faction, either new or old? I think it would be interesting to see, however I'm unsure if it would fit into the theme of Sim Settlements 2

Not to go into details, but with how things are at the end of Chapter 2, that's all but assured at this point - although it's looking like they'll try to write it so we can at least slightly lean which direction "our faction" goes in in terms of morality/goals/etc.

That's what I was imagining. Perhaps either being something like the BOS and becoming military based and forcefully taking settlements for "the greater good" (kind of like going back on themselves and almost becoming gunners just slightly more ethical) or becoming more like the minutemen and becoming more of a saviour role to help settlements in need and improving the quality of life while doing so.

I'm thinking of it more in terms of a game like "Civilization", with its various victory conditions. I know it's almost certainly outside the scope of what even the SS2 team can trick Fallout4 into doing, but we do have team members as of the end of CH2 that are quite clearly aligned with the Culture, Military, and Science victory paths... at the very least, I'd expect to be able to choose which "virtue" "our faction" prefers.

I like your version better. IMO much better than having to choose one and then kill everyone you know and love like with the vanilla factions

A pity, then, that it is a fundamental rule of the universe that if I ever put something I want into words, events will transpire to make it never happen.
(You want proof? Towards the end of 2019 I started saying I was going to buy myself a trip overseas for my 40th birthday).
