Did I miss something? Because it doesn't see like our faction actually has a name.

So if everyone is talking about and shareing info about us, what are they calling us?

Our name as a group gets danced around, just like writing go's out of its way to avoid saying the players name. But at some point, long before getting to the HQ stage, for practical reasons people would have to have settled down into a name or two to refer to "us" as in Player & Jake (ASAM managment for lack of a better term) and the settlements aligned/affiliated with us.

You know, I was just thinking about this myself the past couple of days too.
Might just be that I miss Conqueror letting me call Jammer's Raider Gang "the RadHounds" and hearing my goons go awooo every time I walked through the base.

If you follow the encouraged quest progression, I could see Jake and the Sole Survivor lacking an informal faction name - the settlements aligned with them are (usually) affiliated with the Minutemen and their General, while Jake generally has a less public role after we get involved with him, thanks to us taking over most of the get-people-to-use-ASAMs business. In that context, it doesn't seem that strange for our 'faction' to get away with lacking a name until the endgame of Chapter 2 brings in a lot more people, and a lot more organization, around the ASAM project, and establishes a HQ separate from the Castle.
Of course, it is entirely possible to skip out on the main quest/Minutemen business and still progress through SS2.

It definitely seems like something they could do for Chapter 3, have a "decide on a name" sequence and then have relevant SS2 characters' voice actors record lines that involve the name. (I can already imagine Cassandra sarcastically mocking whatever we picked and Mansfield thinking it's stupid but stumbling over still trying to sound 'loyal')

... I should never have let myself start thinking about how Conqueror for SS1 went. I can't get the thought back out of my head that Jammer would've been a better fit for Head Of Logistics than Lupe... (dude was deceptively good at that) But that would've taken quite a bit of writing him in, plus voice actor availability...

When I was playing, I shared Lord1's thoughts at the start. Providing you sided with the minutemen, You were a loose collection of minutemen affiliated settlements.
However, After the HQ move. I felt like the people of the commonwealth were starting to call us the new CPG (commonwealth provisional government) with the minutemen evolving into the military wing of the new faction.

In my current gameplay I wiped out the institute and the railroad with the BoS faction and rebuilt now the minutemen. As Sentinel or how that rank is called with the BoS and as General of the minutemen I own the militarily faction BoS ( game wise you can't but power wise I could throw the Elder out of the ship and have it for my self as Commander aftercall who made sure there is no Institute anymore.) and the Civil guards named minutemen in the commonwealth. So if you look it like that you could say that everything with Sim Settlement 2 is rebuilding government . That would make in my case the player Character the Governor of the commonwealth. So CPG is a nice one though I do not see the minutemen as the only military wing , more like military police, national guard or so. My real military force is the BOS with the planes, power armors, big robot etc.

So long story short. CPG is a very nice name. maybe make it Commonwealth Protective/Practical/Proactive ( you name it) Government :D

I love this idea. It makes me think of a great way to end SS2. The minuteman start getting their fingers too deep in HQ's settlements or possibly BOS (taxes, voting, city-states vs. centralized government) and the new faction has to decide how to deal with it. Kinggath was talking last night on the live stream about bringing in an original FO4 voice actor (it ain't happening) but the ideas they have are there for some of this stuff. I can't wait to see how it all shakes out (providing we get a lot of bugs squished first, but I also think we're gonna need some heavy work on the original engine/F4SE to do it).

The CPG was an actual thing in the Fallout 4 lore, where settlements sent representatives to it but ultimately it lead to the CPG Massacre.

Nick & Father both talk about it in brief and if you think about it at the later stages of chapter 2; You're building hospitals, Factories to stock shops, Tax offices. You're building up the structure of a government and society. The CPD are basically a Judicial arm depending on how you play down that line and you also establish the nightingales to provide universal healthcare of sorts.

Personally in my own headcanon, I backed purely the minutemen in the end. So, my character is acting a bit like a president of sorts however, Kinggath and his team have left plenty of space to spin your own yarn in what you're doing. SS2 I feel added so much depth to Fallout 4 that it direly needed.

I've viewed Chapter 1 as building your settlements and finding out about ASAM's. Trying to find a way to properly unite your settlements. Chapter 2 was all about forming up a government through the use of the comm hub and a bit of a showdown between your group and the gunners. Chapter 3 I have my ideas but I don't want to say without spoiling it for the rest due to the fact they mention what happens at the end of chapter 2.

I haven't been this keen about a mod since I discovered Legacy of the Dragonborn for Skyrim. What Kinggath has pulled off is amazing and as a person that didn't really enjoy thuggyverse's mods. He's added another option to almost extend fallout 4's universe

I feel CPG - Commonwealth Provisional Government' is a name that would fit whichever (if any) faction the player chose. The military branch doesn't have to be MMen. The police don't have to be MM. If we vote - I go with CPG.

Just picture this: settlement with many BOS settlers. Patrolled by Gen-3 synths - armed to the teeth with the latest laser weapons. "Move along, citizen."
(Reminds me of the planet New Caprica)

Interesting about the CPG. Must have missed that through my rummaging through terminals or overlooked it.

I think it would be interesting if you could name the 'faction' if rebuilding independent from the main vanilla factions in FO4. Not a fan of the MM to be honest, too short sighted and one dimensional and I don't like how the MM plot arc forces the settlement building to be tied to them. Of course that is my opinion.

Look forward to chapter 3. I think I expressed what might be the next antagonist to the Sole Survivor, Jake and the Asam settlement building based on potential Vanilla groups then again Kinggath and company can go in a completely different direction. Either way I will be satisfied because Chapter 2 exceeded any expectations. Not that I had any but if I did...

How could I have missed that. Any way . I see it the same way though from a BoS Boss perspective. SS2 part one, building the landscape, supporting settlements, supply lines, defenses , removing unwanted elements ( like the institute, raiders, gunners, railroad, etc) And with chapter 3 establishing a base of operation/communications, so that all know we are not going to leave. And part 3 that would be a fun one. I can see it as separating from the faction you play, can be minutemen/BoS/Institute and Call out out your own region or so , with the probably invasion or so of an other party/Bos/whatever .

Anyway . its fun and I think that depending on the faction you let live /play with or kept all friendly you can have different outcomes depending on your own imagination .
