Primary Bug Report Crashing - How to help us solve them

I posted about this on the hotfix beta thread and it crashes on the flat version too.
Refreshing Sanctuary with no other mods, city level 0, codsworth.
Also tried nuking the settlement by holotape.
All logs point to:
[01/06/2018 - 10:21:17PM] CP Spawn: 172435 from plugin: Fallout4.esm

edit, settlement was created with version that makes double admin desk and trying to scrap or store duplicate also CTD:s. Here's log from that: https://pastebin.com/fKXAKFb1

It keeps crashing!
I've tried disabling sim settlements, and it stopped crashing. I also tried disabling mods other than sim settlement, and it crashed again. can anyone help me, is it a bug or is it something wrong with my mod load order, or something else? I'm using version 3.0.2

Save File
HERE
and the papyrus file doesn't say CP Spawn anywhere

I would suspect spring cleaning or home maker. I would stay clear of any settlement mods because this is kind of work in progress. Vendors maybe? They may change some scripts?

But what do i know?

Just quessing here.

I tried disabling all the mods except for sim settlements and it's addons, but it still crashes.

Mine will constantly crash around the same point in Sanctuary. I think it must be related to visuals rather than scripts though, as I can get past this point when I stare at the ground. But, I get a hitch and CTD always when passing back or forth through this area. Is there a split in cells here or something?20180107101906_1.jpg

My game runs at least at 55 fps. I'm not sure why I get a hitch right here and it dumps.

Stack overflow maybe?

I've tried changing resolutions and using all of the performance tweaks in the holotape. This is a real problem area for me for some reason. Turned off G-sync and SLI.

I am getting crashes on redrocket settlements, i am using simsettlements RC in redrocket, finch farm and hangman alley, just redrocket is having problems, i cannot even fast travel to concord, when entering concord past the main street the game crashes.

Before i update the game, i receive a message saying that red rocket had been improved, i think the city got level 3, but i was on mission, them i update the mod, so i don't know if is a new or old problem

I check the papyrus log, what i found...
many times, warning: Property PrimaryWorkshopResourceProvided on script simsettlements:simbuildingplan attached to (0A00A81D) cannot be initialized because the script no longer contains that property

This one, don't know if is simsettlements related.
error: Property linkedLight on script FusionGeneratorSCRIPT attached to (416CACFF) cannot be bound because <nullptr form> (416CAD03) is not the right type

warning: Property PrimaryWorkshopResourceProvided on script simsettlements:simbuildingplan attached to (0A00620F) cannot be initialized because the script no longer contains that property

warning: Property f3DNPC_BunkerJukeboxKey on script f3DNPC_:nerd:unker_Jukebox attached to (4C0068EC) cannot be initialized because the script no longer contains that property

warning: Property evanpox_workshopcategory_counters on script evanpoxmkcategoriesinstallerscript attached to evanpox_CategoriesInstaller (4200AFDC) cannot be initialized because the script no longer contains that property

Them VM is freezing... / VM is frozen / Reverting game...
And back
warning: Property PrimaryWorkshopResourceProvided on script simsettlements:simbuildingplan attached to (0A00A81D) cannot be initialized because the script no longer contains that property
The others again

Them
warning: Variable ::TS_Holotape_Quest_var on script SimSettlements:TransferSettlementsSupport has an invalid type ts_holotape_questscript loaded from save. This variable will be skipped.
error: Variable object type ts_holotape_questscript is unknown - data will be ignored

There was others errors too, but mostly related to the tales of the commonwealth, i disable it just to make sure, but the crashes still happens.

Hope this info can help.

The logs end up being minimal use, because they only tell you what the scripting portion of the engine is doing - which is a tiny fraction of the system. The CP Spawn lines can help me identify corrupt model files though, so it's not entirely useless.

@da123rrell Was it crashing as soon as you load that save? After you go to a particular location? After you scrap something? Just need to make sure I can replicate it. Also, what level is your character?

@Drask Do you have a scrap mod like Scrap Everything or Spring Cleaning? If not, check your Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Custom.ini in your Documents/My Games/Fallout4 folder for bUseCombinedObjects=0 If your precombine is turned off by one of those things, you can have massive performance drops in various areas. I had to quit using Scrap Everything because of all the issues it causes my PC.

@ralfetas Your log looks pretty normal, a lot of those warnings are just the game engine loading things in the wrong order - nothing that would cause crashes though. I would guess this is either related to the precombine setting, or could just be your game is overwhelmed. If it's the latter, walking (and this is going to sound silly) backwards or with your camera pointed at the ground from a nearby fast travel point, might allow Red Rocket to load in.

To all of you:
I think I found another potential spot for crashes, which I hope to address in 3.0.3. Since so many plots are being created while you're away, they are probably all updating as soon as you guys enter your settlements, which is probably too much for the game to handle. Until I do, try out the INI settings here, they might help you a lot: https://simsettlements.com/web/wiki/index.php?title=Performance

Is there anyway to help while on XB1? There doesn't seem to be any tools similar to ones available for PC.

You can at least report specific issues you can repeat. For example, if you find that a specific plot or one particular settlement crashes the game every single time if you do a certain thing - I can then try and copy your steps to see if it's a bug in the system.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply Kinggath.

I tried looking down and going backwards, nothing, the crash still happens, but please don't worry or spend time with my bug, is a old savegame, i want to start a new one, them i am sure i will have no crashes.

I think is nothing related to the hardware, i have a nice rig here, 1080ti, i7 6900k, 32gb ram and the HD fo4 is installed is a 960evo 1tb, my pc don't even get hot playing FO4.

I'm not using any scrap mod and the .ini does not have that line added. I'm just running SS+IR+RotC, salvage beacons and the UI and Sorting mods +UI mods for widescreen. I'm never running below 50 fps, anywhere. But I get a hitch around that spot in the screenshot and the game CTD's. I've got no other add-ons and the tape is set to designer's choice for the settlement. If anyone else is having this issue, let me know and we can see if we can narrow the issue down.

There are definitely multiple cells in Sanctuary, so i'm sure you're on the money with that. Though i've definitely not seen this ever happen.

It could also be a physics or navigation issue where either the physics engine or AI engine is overwhelmed when you enter that are. AI makes less sense, but you can test it with the console command tai to turn off ai processing.

Testing physics is pretty tough- do you happen to hear any sounds like something is stuck? It will be really obnoxious as if a sound is repeating super fast and you can only hear the start of it- though it will still be in 3d space so you can track the source.

I know the noise you're talking about, but no, nothing like that. I tried the AI command and it made no difference. Would be nice if there were better logging for this type of thing.

after loading the older saves, I found that it crashed when I go to croup manor, and greentop nursery. it crashed when I got a bit close to those settlements. on greentop, at first it started to crash everytime I tried to move/scrap the city planner's desk, but after a while, it started crashing when I got too close to the settlement. my character is on level 106/

Do the older saves have the city building in action? If not, do they have any plots in them?

I had a high level save like that with lots of settlements and scripts going on. And, had similar issues. So, I suspect that it's getting overwhelmed handling all of that. Especially if you enter the settlement and the needs bars haven't updated yet. I feel like we're starting to see the limits of the engine when you start filling out all of your settlements. But, my current issues are with a single city save that I was using to test the update system earlier.

I think we can push it a lot further still! I'm starting to get a picture of the engine's weaknesses with all of the reports and saves everyone is giving me so I can rewrite SS to dodge those.

You're right that we're hitting the limit, but I think it's because I relied too much on Bethesda's scripts. Once I pulled the scrapping out of them, it went much, much faster and so far seems to have fixed crashing for a ton of people. So i'm super excited to see how much more I can isolate things.

I know this is frustrating to everyone with all of the crashing, but I believe you're helping us get to some new heights with what we can pull off!

I am sure the majority of the SS users will tell you that they don't mind the crashes too much. Especially since we all got a really great upgrade to a game we love. This was a really ambitious and amazing addon with a small team of talented people. If it helps, think of release 3.0 and RotC as a "Release Candidate" version that needed a wider base of user testing.

I hope you're right. SS is the only reason to go back and play FO4 in my opinion. It's made it so much better. I really hope that we get one made by Obsidian next time, or at least written by Avellone (Tease here https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/CgyQ8wFL7j6Jdw5N5T9cbD-650-80.jpg). And, that your system can get implemented with ease into the next one. Kinda sick of running through the same crappy stories in the one(just my opinion).

On the plus side, with the multi-threaded scripting, my CPU load appears very balanced. I can run at 60-70% accross 12 cores. GPU load is about the same at ultra.
