Fixed Crash to Desktop

As @RobotsSmell has pointed me at the possibility that there could be a section just for the Jampad-Addon, I somehow found the way over here.

I have been using the Addon for some weeks seemingly without any issue and one day left Sanctuary and Red Rocket behind to go on another quest of an unknown length. As it was rather long, a lot of messages piled up that stuff in settlements was upgrading. After leaving the Questregion I had 2 messages to defend Red Rocket and Coastal Cottage. I did Coastal Cottage first and then fast traveled back to RR... only to find myself at the Desktop.
I loaded back up, before defending Coastal Cottage and this time traveled right back to RR, CTD.
Knowing that loading lots of stuff at once can crash the game, I traveled to Sanctuary... CTD.
Traveling to Vault 111, everything fine.
Walking down and through the buildings, still everything fine but turning to the left to walk past the workshop... CTD.
Repeating this but walking towards the bridge until buildings from RR started to pop up... CTD.

Checking scripts was fine, not even 10 running on the save once the messages from SS had ran their course, repeating the tests... CTD's

Now I started to remove mods from my loadorder to see when no crashes would happen anymore and I did find a couple of mods when deactivating at once the game was no more crashing.
Slowly enabling them back again and switching back and forth I finally had to single out only 1 mod... Jampad.

It must be something spawning or changing upon construction or upgrading of a plot I have placed but considering no other people are reporting such an issue, all I can guess is, maybe an incompatibility with one of my other mods. Though that is as far as I can dig into the issues.

I'd be interested to know what plot of mine you may have placed so I can at least take a look. I haven't had this issue reported before (the bug report was actually about the "milk problem" with Altairp and the CC milks, which is a whole other side conversation) but I can always check it out if you can help me narrow down where the issue might be.
@CaptainLaserBeam I actually don't know but I will load stuff up and try to find out ^^

Things I could find:
  • [JP] Miscellaneous Debris - Level 1
I know that is not much but every other plot had a "by *insert nickname*" and the "JP" would fit "JamPad" after all, and I found it on the Nexus-Page listed as one of your plots.
Interestingly, I found no plot I could pin down to possibly being from you in my Red Rocket and in the Sanctuary-Corner there is, well, only that one plot.
Over in another settlement I remember having the Robot Parade but did not experience any crashes there until I disabled the mod.

I can double check Miscellaneous Debris and Robot Parade all the same to see if anything is amiss. I was about to start doing an update to my mod to add some skins and start work on a few new plots so it would not be a lot of work to double-check those to see if I notice anything strange. I will say I have noticed a substantial uptick in crashes like that lately for myself in Abernathy and Sanctuary even when I've placed none of my plots and have my mod disabled so I don't know what's going on but I'll do what I can to test that plot and the spawns.

The only thing that immediately jumps to mind is that Miscellaneous Debris does use assets from Creative Clutter, so I will also double-check to make sure I've pathed and implemented those correctly. They could be the culprit if I'm missing custom materials or textures for them. Do you use Creative Clutter?

Okay, I guess then we have the possible issue.
I made sure when installing everything, to get all the required mods, in your case I even invested a few bucks for Slocum Joe's but I do not use Creative Clutter this time around since I barely do any decorations on my own anyway.
Thus, if there is something within the plot on Level 2 using some asset you forgot to implement in a safe way, it would naturally cause an issue ^^

As far as I can tell the mesh is just a collection of vanilla meshes and materials, but now I wonder if there's a custom texture or material in there that I didn't notice the first time. I coped all of the meshes over into my own mods' archive to prevent this issue, but it's possible there could be a custom material or texture that is not obvious from the object itself. If so it would not have caused a crash to anyone that had Creative Clutter installed and also wouldn't cause a crash if you didn't place the plot. I'll have to check each asset to make sure it's not pointing back to a material or texture that's non-vanilla.

Whatever the cause, once you have an update out I will test again. My savegames are not lost after all ^^

I guess my best way to test it at that point will be, loading the still working save with the Level-1-Plot and then time forward until the upgrade happens.

Or you can use cf unlocklevel in the console, but yes I will take a look and see if I can identify the problem. If the mesh doesn't point to any unique textures or materials, though, I'll be back to square one because that's really the only theory I have right now.

I think I may have found the culprit. I'm going to work a fix and should have it up in the next couple of days. I'll let you know once it's available.

I put out an update. Hopefully this fixes your problem. If it doesn't, I'm honestly going to have to say I have no idea what's causing it. I may have to rebuild the plot from scratch just to be sure in that case. You may need to refresh the plot to have the fix fully work, but if you do the remote refresh of all plots in the settlement it shouldn't glitch out this time if all is right.

Testing it right now... first result was much better, I could walk almost all the way, game crashed when I arrived at the structure where the plot is located inside, close to the river.

Second attempt, walking into Sanctuary and starting local refresh of all plots from the Terminal and waiting 20+ minutes to give it some time since I have no clue in wich order the refresh will happen. Walking back to where it crashed on first attempt... walking... turning corner... already seeing a nicely setup 2nd-Level-Plot :)

So to sum it up, you must have found the issue and fixed it ;)
Naturally, I will still play with my other savestate where I had deactivated the mod... loosing now almost 24 hours of progress would be a bit much, though the mod stays enabled once more.

I'm relieved that it seems to be fixed now. If what I thought was the issue hadn't been the issue then I wouldn't really have known where else to go. Thanks for bringing it to my attention and helping me figure out where things were going wrong. Hopefully no more CTDs for you on my account in the future.

I will not promise that, but I cross my fingers.
With so many mods I have it is always so hard to figure out what is going wrong since it is so seldom that it crashes always at the exactly same place and time. Most often in the past, crashes were all over the place, impossible to figure out.
