Question Conqueror v4.0.10 CTD upon play character death

I have a repeatable problem, when Fallout 4 will CTD upon play character death as long as I have Conqueror installed. I even took the .esp out to see if the CTD will occur and it does not.
So then I try, a clean vanilla save to see if it was my save causing the issue however the problem still persists.
I have tried
- Conqueror v4.0.9
- Conqueror v4.0.10

Can you test if it occurs with just SS, Workshop Framework, and Conqueror installed?

Also, has anyone else been able to replicate this?

I loaded up a vanilla save with just SS, Workshop Framework, and Conqueror installed and it worked just fine, there was no CTD.
I'm starting to think it may be a mod compatibility issue.

If dieing always crashes the game, then this should be easy to find. I'd set yourself up a save with a rocket launcher or fatman equipped so you can quickly kill yourself.

Then do what I call a half-split test. Disable half of your mods and test.

If you crash, then you have the bad mod enabled and this is the "bad half", otherwise, the disabled half is the "bad half". Now enable just half of the "bad half", and try again to identify the next "bad half". Repeat this process until you find the mod causing the crash. It should only take 7 tries to get through your load order like this.

This of course will only work if its a specific mod. If the issue is a conflict, you might have to just try disabling chunks at a time and see what happens.

It also could just be the order your mods are sorted. Do you use LOOT or have you tried Vortex's autosort?

I went through the process to find out what mod was causing it and I wasn't expecting what I found, its DEF_UI. v1.5.1
So then I tried putting all the Sim settlements stuff at the top of my lode order however it's still crashed.
I then tried switching it around having everything installed but def UI and no CTD occurred

LOOT Version - 0.14.4 (build ec99692e)

Update i think i have fixed it. on the HUD Framework files page there is a DEF_UI Compatibility Patch that i mist and it fixed it for me. Now with play character deaths there is no CTD as far as i can tell, it just reloads the last save.
What made me overlooked the patch in the first place was that it is listed For DEF_UI v1.4.0
Meanwhile the latest version is listed at DEF_UI v1.5.1

I'm sorry for wasting your time Kinggath with something that is human error

Yes and no. Yes, it does happen, no it does not happen every time. It does not happen often enough to want to chase it down, especially since I just died and have to start from last save anyways.

Do you use LOOT or have you tried Vortex's autosort?
I thought the vortex autosort was already using LOOT.

Hey, just FYI, I have been having CTD with Pip-boy interaction (1.10.138), without Conqueror even installed... would you tell us what a) you found wrong with DEF_UI and b) what was the actual fix???

John

EDIT: NVM... you aren't using F4SE... so version doesn't matter.

It does, but not everyone is using Vortex yet.

I don't use Vortex and I will always do my manual LO... I have not ever trusted LOOT. It was one of the primary driver of modding problems for me long ago in the beginning because people said "Just use loot"... wrong answer - well meaning, but wrong.

Sorry.

I hope it works for you all... but I will always do my load order via my installation process...

John
