Changing room in HQ leaves floating junk behind?

I originally put living quarters in an upstairs office and later changed it to Aidens office. Now there is random junk left behind "floating" that I can't get rid of. Desk items, food, blanket and pillows. Is there a solution? Sort of the same thing in the cafeteria right under my living quarters. When I build it the "stuff" is there but no counters or tables, just floating stuff and food.

Have you tried refreshing Aiden's office? You can do so with the box on the wall next to the room. I had this happen with Theresa's quarters (located across from that room). As for the cafeteria in order to have it work properly you are going to have to change it. Use the rooms box, select the option for room change, pick Dining Hall (currently it's the only one that works proper), refresh the room (so hopefully its empty). Don't remember if you have to wait 24 hours until you can actually build, but it should allow you to do so after that. Once (if you haven't already) you have the office floor unlocked, you will have another Cafeteria/Dining Hall option. Select Dining Hall again, the Cafeteria option down there is borked too (it doesn't build at all).

I'm having a fair bit of trouble when trying to change a room's purpose. Either it says I don't have enough workers free or resources (I do), or it doesn't properly build the new room in many cases.

Yeah. For some reason the little wall widgets do that if you try to build directly from them, you have to build them in the HQ workshop. Some rooms like Theresa's room upgrade do that regardless. Here's something kind of crazy... I only ever selected Theresa's quarters to be her quarters (which she doesn't use by the way, she will still use the room next to the players, Aiden too even though he has his own room as well). When I tried to upgrade it said it was not available, so I refreshed her room and got this...

This is the Living Quarters deco for that room, which I never selected. I closed the game, rolled back a save before the refresh and it remained looking like this. I had to manually disable the parts that didn't belong. I have completely built up HQ twice now, so if you have questions on which rooms bork, don't work or work arounds, I may be able to help with the areas that were like that consistently in both of my playthroughs.

Yep my Theresa room looks like that right now. Also I followed your advice and built the other room straight from Command Mode instead of the wall computer and that worked, so thank you very much!
