Can I safely uninstall Scrap Everything and Insignificant Object Remover? I'm planning on replacing Scrap Everything with Clean My Settlement.

So I realized that Scrap Everything isn't exactly a safe mod to use after reading the "Mods to Avoid" section of Qolore's The Midnight Ride guide and experiencing a certain issue that I'm almost positive it caused. I also found out that Insignificant Object Remover is at best placebo and at worst dangerous.

I'm wondering if there is a way I could remove these mods safely? I'm willing to do things in xEdit or even learn to do so. I really, really don't want to lose this save. I've poured blood, sweat and tears into it. The game itself plays fine for the most part and I'm still able to continue playing it. These mods have been with me for a long time throughout my gameplay. I don't really trust Scrap Everything to not destroy anything else, but I also don't want my save to go to hell. I already made backups of my save and gave a custom name for my last couple of saves before doing The Midnight Ride guide.

Edit: If it matters, I didn't put bUseCombinedObjects=0 in my fallout.ini. Hell, I actually don't even have that line in my fallout.ini. I read that means it's default (aka set to =1).

no you can not safely remove mods mid game no matter what. Especially Scrap Everything. This will require a new save. That's the harsh reality of even having that mod even touch a save file.

I'm assuming you mean settlements. A tedious way would be to fast travel to a settlement, make a hard save, disable the 2 mods and load the previously made save. Then wait a while for the game load script stuff to run and try exporting a WSFW Settlement Layout. Then quit, enable the disabled mods, load the save from before you disabled the mods, make a save at the next settlement and repeat until you have exported all your settlements.

Info on exporting and creating a plugin for import:

If it's not the settlements you're not wanting to lose, here's what I'd do, assuming you're not having game breaking issues yet. Keep playing until you do while trying to dial back the level of investment. Then on your next save, you'll know better.

Well not even necessarily the settlements, just the entire save itself. Like I said, I put a lot of effort into this save and I don't want to lose it.

I will keep that advice in mind though!

Would it be that dangerous to keep if I resist scrapping anything I'm not able to in vanilla and I don't have bUseCombinedObjects=0?

Yep it could blow up your save at any time. Damage is already done the second you installed it. Even with that setting.

I've had corrupted saves with scrap everything being the only mod installed. Its a lottery. It could crap out at 50 hours or 500 hours. You never know.
