Vanilla Bug - Unsolved 75% of citizen NPCs have the brown face bug

Hey, I've tested this without any body / face texture mods and about 75% of citizen NPC have the brown face no eyebrows bug, settlers and main game NPC's do not have the bug. The issue is happening on male and female citizens.

I also tried with the latest versions of sim settlements and conqueror along with a fresh install of fallout 4 and still encountered the issue.

i think SS has nothing to do with It. sometimes It happens to me but It doesn't stays forever, if you reload the save It might dissapear or be in other npcs even your character. don't know if It is a vanilla bug or it's related to other mods that alter npcs like better settlers

Yeah, this is an FO4 problem. Usually saving and exiting the game and reloading fixes it.

There is a more permanent solution I can implement to make it less likely to occur, but it will bulk up the file size of Conqueror pretty substantially, so it likely won't be something I do for the complete version - but perhaps I can release it as an optional patch.

I avoid the 4K DLC and that helps.

Also, if using something like the mod "Unique NPC's" and you install a mis-match as there are non and 4k versions it will be a problem.

Depending on your configuration below might help as long it isn't the mod-dlc mismatch above, or the simple and effective reload trick that Rocola already stated does not work:

I ussually don´t bother about it, it´s not fully gamebreaking, and sometimes it repairs after some loading screens

I know it's a deep rooted issue inside FO4 but I need to reiterate I'm not using the HD DLC, DLCUltraHighResolution.esm isn't in my data folder, I'm not using any texture mods or NPC enhancing mods. The bug is only on the new citizens, not settlers or other NPCs and happens even with a fresh launch of the game.

The Rusy Face Fix addon seems to help though, but not 100% of the time.

If texture files were missing in-game on NPC's that I was expecting to be in my game, I would try 2 things next.

1. Validate the game files with Steam "ha, why not"
2. Do a manual install of the SS.

Sorry, you had to reiterate, I miss stuff sometimes, but that is about all I have to suggest. You have done a good job of narrowing it down.

One easy way to get rid of it if saving and reloading doesn't work is to just . . . take them on a raid. What? I'm a raider boss. If I don't like somebody, they won't be coming back from a raid.

Anywho, I found one raider with black face so far. A sack hood later . . ..

I put together some patches with all of the face data for SS and Conqueror though I haven't had a chance to test them out. They are quite large, so will never get released for Xbox, but for PC it won't be often that they are ever updated, so shouldn't be a big deal.
