What Scrap/cleaning mod to use?

I made the jump to PC from Xbox and am having a very difficult time finding a decent scrap/cleaning mod that doesn't break precombines. I was spoiled by scrap that settlement (STS) on Xbox and can't find anything on PC. Horizon seemed promising until I discovered it uses a modified version of scrap everything so it still breaks precombines :( most of the searching I've done brings up old info so I'm hoping in 2020 maybe there is finnialy a decent scrap/cleaning mod I've missed?

Thank you for the info. Those look promising :) I just still can't believe STS or an equivalent hasn't made it to PC yet.

The desire to scrap is strong with this one :crazy

Is there a mod that removes or more likely makes the trash piles invisible and leaves precombines intact? The suggested mods have helped a lot but I can't find anything that gets rid of those trash piles completely and doesn't hurt performance.

If you are using Place Anywhere ( and if not WHY?) and if you have SMM + MCM installed, you can select 'Extra' items while in build mode. That will enable you to select SOME things like leaf piles and road trash. If you can highlight it, you can remove it ... or move it somewhere else. You do have to be carefull with it though, because it is super easy to pick the road or anything underneath it. One other thing, if you have trees, weeds & grass inside a structure and cannot highlight it, you will not be able to get rid of it. Good luck

Are you referring to using the insert key to enable extra object selection with place everywhere? I have done that but it does not allow me to select to thrash piles.

Exactly that. Like I said, it does not work on everything. One thing it is also famous for is leaving stuff behind. Like with weed covered trees.... you can get rid of the trees, but you cannot scrap the hanging weeds. Ditto for power poles & their lines. You can scrap poles... but not the lines.

From the research I've done it sounds like these trash piles can't easily be removed because they have collision. Collision means mesh edits, not just simple texture swaps, and mesh edits break precombines, as I understand it. I just don't understand how the author of scrap that settlement on xbox does this without breaking them?
I'm almost convinced that scrap that settlement is like scrap everywhere in that it breaks individual precombines and not the global precombine. I just can't see any other way for that mod to work.

You are correct. I have also found that scrapping a crap pile somewhere can be a temporary thing too. In my last playthrough, I built up Nordhagen beach. So you know all the piles of detritus left on the bridge? I scrapped it , and put some G2M decking part to more or less fill the holes in the bridge decking. Came back to it a few game days later and the piles had returned, The decking I put in was still there. If you ever do get it figured out, shoot me a PM so I can use it too.

I found this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/45406

Its called immersive cleaning. It's similar to raze my settlement but it removes trash piles and fixes it's precombine data. From my testing so far it seems compatible with clean my settlement and raze my settlement as well. The bad thing is it's not compatible with Boston fps fix or fo4fi though.

Long time no see everyone!

Yeap, Immersive Cleaning uses re-done precombines from what I can tell, which would overwrite those from Boston FPS Fix and thus break the precombines just like Scrap Everything does. If I remember right, you can only have one mod that changes a given cell's precombine data in your load order. If any other mod touches any of the precombine/previs data within that cell, the precombine and previs is disabled for that cell automatically.

Whisper's mod and other mods like it automate removing almost everything that isn't part of the precombines, but unfortunately a lot of the trash and debris in many settlements is part of the vanilla precombine data. If you truly want to create a completely clean settlement location you would need to either use Scrap Everything (which can be very taxing on your system depending on your specs) or a mod that regenerates the precombine meshes for that location without the debris included (those are pretty rare; Jenncave's Clean and Simple series and Immersive Cleaning are the only ones I'm aware of that do this, but even they are soft-incompatible with a lot of things that also touch those cells). I've been away and out of the loop for a while, but I don't think there are any truly comprehensive and dynamic mods that can 100% safely provide the level of cleaning that Scrap Everything or a pre-cleaned mod with regenerated precombines like Clean and Simple or Immersive Cleaning do.
