Ahoy! I've checked through a few pages of FAQs, watched the "most common problems" and "quick start" guides, I didn't directly find a response to this - - if it exists and I missed it, my apologies - please direct me to it!
I started a new game, with SS 3-in-1, Conqueror, Wastland Ventures all-in-one, the megapack (year one), and my own mix of mods (including Def_UI and VIS-G, but no alt-start mods to my knowledge) - didn't exit the Valut for a while, so everything pre-built. I visited Abernathy and Tenpines after talking with Codsworth, was thoroughly impressed with what was built.
All was well until I got to the Museum of Freedom. For some reason, after killing the deathclaw for the Vanilla quest, my game would CTD every time I re-entered the building to finish up the dialogue with Preston. Sometimes it would crash as soon as I started talking, sometimes I'd get to Mama Murphy's part, but never past that. In my debugging procedure, I ended up disabling both Sim Settlements and Conqueror - which actually got me through the dialogue and quest swap. Once out of the building I re-enabled both SimS and Conqueror, and my game is still running OK (for now) - thing is, by disabling Conqueror mid-save, all the pre-built settlements are now half-built skeletons!! I've tried doing town refreshes and such using MCM and the holotape, but it's not working - - I think by disabling SS/C, I somehow messed up the plot selection/assignment, not to mention the resources used to build the settlements (funny thing with this, Zuniga is completely empty - no-one to kill, no settlers).
Any suggestions for getting half-built settlements back to full built mid-save??
Note: I've updated/added/removed several things during my gameplay up to this point so I have not provided my load-order to re-create the CTDs, since it's changed. I'm using Vortex with no customizing of the game load (I think I just heard several veteran modders fall out of their chairs). I'm actually going to try a new save b/c I read that VIS-G/DEF_UI can cause memory issues which may have precipitated the CTDs. While I love having my items tagged in pip-boy, I'm going to try a new game without DEF_UI or VIS-G.
