Question How to fix 'stuck' leaders?

So i've encountered this bug twice, where companions assigned as city leaders somehow get stuck in a loop. What ends up happening is that the companion will just stand in place doing nothing. They are not able to move, draw weapons, use any objects and won't respond to being talked to. You simply cannot interact with them. This happened to me twice, once with Preston and once with ADA. In the case of Preston, it happened when I triggered the Taking Independence quest while he was in charge of a settlement. In case of ADA it happened when I assigned her to be a provisioner (again while she still was the leader of a settlement).

So is this a known issue and anyways to fix it?

I've tried enabling/disabling/recycleactor etc. Nothing seems to work.

I will try this, but i really don't think that'd fix the issue. Is there a way to clear the script que or something like that?

Yes, the way is to try exactly what @1ae0bfb8 suggested.

Not trying to be a punk or anything like that but what he suggested is often - "more often than not" the best way to go.

There are maybe other methods but they are hit-to-miss and risk breaking your save file or corrupting that NPC's AI for a large period of the game.

I'll take the suggestion one step further - If you can't wait or it does not fix it then let it go for 10-20 "in game" hours "not game time but "real hours playing". You'll likely find it has fixed itself.

not really because there isn't really a lot to go on.
have you removed mods from your current play through? that will wreck your game in a myraid of fun and interesting ways.
other than that - have you gone massively over the build limit in the settlement where they are stuck?
you may need to fire up fallrim tools and see how many scripts you've got going. there are a stack of posts in these forums with good information on how to do that and what to look for.
last resort is - either go back to a save where this doesn't happen, or start a new game.

no doubt its a mod.
did you open the save in fallrim tools? there's nothing else anyone can say to help you at this point as there's really no other data provided to give any kind of insight outside of recommending a new game.

Well I have no idea how to provide you guys with more info either. I did open up the save and look up ADA's ref ID and deleted the 2 scripts involving her, but that didn't do anything. I have no idea how to proceed at this point.
