Question Misc questions I have as a newcomer to the mod

If I just decide to take a settlement on my own and kill all the raiders/gunners there, I don't really have any option I see to make it a vassal. I can build a war planner desk and make it an Outpost, but not a vassal. I seem to only get the vassal option if I plan an assault first, but I don't always have available attackers to do that..

Using BoS Liberator faction pack by the way if it matters.

The only way to create a vassal (even if you already control the settlement) is to fight someone for it via the warplanner desk.

All right, thanks. I make most of my settlements Outposts anyway unless I don't like the place, I like the control and having my faction units wandering around working on plots

Oh I have one more question actually, don't want to spam threads so I'll ask on here, can you use normal settlements to supply Outposts instead of Vassals? I don't really like how Vassals sounds when playing a liberator, not sure if supply lines will connect

Edit: One more question, do normal settlers never recruit in outposts? I haven't seen any new settlers appear, just more BoS people (and the BoS workers don't seem to be able to act as doctors which is annoying for when I get sick)

Outposts are basically your forts/ military bases and as such should only have your faction recruits. As a liberator vassals are more the villages and towns under your protection, paying for that protection by supplying rations and ammo. If the bos guys won't run clinics might be worth letting the faction author know, as that's not normal.

Thank you. Just another question, is there any way to transfer people from an outpost to a normal settlement? I converted Sanctuary to a normal settlement and I can't get the named NPCs who are supposed to be there back. Even if it's a console command way to get them there.

Again, just using this instead of making threads.. Sorry for the trouble.

Try this:
  1. target npc in console. Exit console without clicking on anything else.
  2. travel to the settlement you want to move the settler to.
  3. open the console again and moveto.player. Exit console.
  4. NPC should now be standing near you.
  5. Open workshop and "move" the NPC. The current settlement should show as an option.

Moving the settler to another settlement isn't even an option, just warped mama murphy to me

Edit: Got another console command to force the move command

Okay, uhm, I took an outpost and captives won't like get untied ever? And do normal settlements count toward the resources you need to keep your soldiers happy and recruiting? As I said before, I would prefer normal settlements to vassals. I could just tick the option to control vassals, but there are SOME settlements I don't really like and would rather they just do their own thing forever

Vanilla settlements that you take control of are not part of your empire so contribute no wages/rations/equipment (WRE). If you connect them to your empire say by building logistics stations, they will share water, food and resources for the vanilla system needs, but those are different to the WRE system.

All right, that's fine. Guess I'll bite the bullet and do vassals and take control of them. An issue I have is companions don't seem to like going to these conqueror mode settlements.
