Question Soldier Manager script spam

Getting tens of these on a regular basis now after playing the game for a while. Combination of 12 or 13 outposts/vassals (I forget). Results in pretty major script lag. Sluggish menus when selecting roles, etc. Most times assaults end up triggering out of sync or taking 10+ minutes to initiate. Usually the soldiers never even show up, just the quest marker. The SoldierManager scripts are the only scripts tying up a majority of the resources from what I've seen. Every once in a great while if I do something WAYYY outside of any settlements for a few hours they will drop down to 5 or so, but come right back as soon as I start making rounds through outposts.

Any way around this?

Absolutely killer dlc sized mod btw. This is how I always wanted to play fallout 4. Much thanks.

This is on my radar, though I haven't been able to replicate it.

I'm running another playthrough without any armory plots and all armory options turned off globally. Still getting the occasional spike of soldiermanager scripts, but it's not as bad as before. The most I've seen lately is 5-10, then they work their way out eventually. Don't have nearly as many raiders or patrols set up yet, however.

Will keep any eye on things to see if that changes as I add new outposts and patrols.

Happened on current playthrough unfortunately. Took the Castle. Let all of the usual assault and conqueror scripts roll through, no issues there. Just waited around in the area for 20 minutes for all of the guards and captives to auto assign to plots. A bit later tried using the town gavel to call up my guards to do some re-assignments. Took way too long for the script to trigger. Saved and checked game. Sure enough, whole bunch of backlogged zero instance soldiermanager scripts.

Not a huge deal as I can just remove most of them, resave, and carry on, but I can't be the only one experiencing this? Would bet lots of conqueror users wondering why their assaults aren't working, or dialog is taking too long to activate during conqueror quests, or using town gavel functions taking a while to respond, etc, probably have a large backlog of these scripts running.

Would be real curious if others having script lag checked their game for these to see if it's happening for them as well?

This is the same exact problem I've had with every Conqueror play through I've tried. Everything works great until I have about 10+ settlements, then everything just grinds to a halt. I'll park myself at Homeplate with 30+ soldier manager scripts active, and will have to leave the game running for literally an entire day to get them to start clearing. Then as soon as I start another assault, they're all back and everything stops working. I would really love to find out if there's a solution to this, as I've had to stop using Conqueror because of it.

I have found that you can terminate almost all of the soldiermanager scripts without issue. Just make sure they are the 5 frame zero instance ones. Definitely don't overwrite your save, and create a backup just in case something goes weird. In my experience terminating the 4 frame soldiermanager scripts results in ctd or infinite load screen so those seem important. Could just be coincidence on my part of course.

Game will run perfectly fine until they start stacking up again. Just rinse and repeat. Takes only a couple of minutes. Amusingly, this is the most stable my game has ever been. Game rarely crashes. Just that silly soldiermanager script spam. Literally have only like 5 scripts running otherwise. Can't imagine what mod would conflict with it as I don't have any mods that directly affect settlers or raiders other than typical script injected level list weapon/armor mods that fire once upon install and never do anything again.

Player comments/head tracking and auto eat/drink in survival are the only other somewhat script intensive mods I use, and they always work without issue. Don't see how they could possibly interfere with conqueror.

Some more trial and error results and observations during my second playthrough.

Average scripts running is 3-5. Occasional spikes when all the sim settlement and conqueror scripts fire off. Those quickly resolve and then it's back to the 3-5 average. The only time this is not the case is when these soldiermanager scripts start going bonkers and stacking up. Then script load jumps up to 30+ and everything script related becomes more or less extremely unresponsive to non-functional. The spam doesn't get too crazy until around the 12-14 settlements/outposts point with multiple patrols set up and raider warrior numbers get above 20. Not using any armory plots. All global armory options are turned off.

This is how I've dealt with this issue to keep the game running fairly smoothly. If I immediately try and terminate the soldiermanager scripts this usually results in a ctd. Which leads me to believe they are actively doing something, for a while at least. The problem is they start stacking up and never go away. So I go into an interior cell and let the game sit 5-10 minutes. This allows those scripts to do whatever it is they are doing. But they don't actually go away. However, I can then terminate most if not all of the soldiermanager scripts without issue. Can then resume playing the game and doing all the raider conqueror stuff without issue until those scripts stack up again. Then repeat. Not a huge issue as I have the VTO mod which more or less gives me a portable interior cell right in the middle of any outpost or settlement I choose. Allows for quick access to the conqueror board to get assaults fired off and running before the spam builds up again.

Not perfect, but it works for now I guess. Worth trying for anyone that can't get assaults to work after prolonged game play.
