Settlement Water Production Cap? Bug?

15h (>1 week game world time?) into SS I've noticed that despite water generation of 138 with 11 settlers in Sanctuary, day after day there's only 15 or so new fresh water added to the settlement workbench. I understand that settlers use water, but something ain't right. In a vanilla game, there'd be pretty massive stockpiles daily.

Red Rocket has 29 water production, 7 settlers--and leaves over 9 or so water at the end of a day.

Is there something I'm not doing right? Is this a bug? Any advice most appreciated.

Vanilla game the resources are “capped” - despite how much you have in the way of production.

The Uncapped Settlement Surplus mod on Nexus will let you uncap, or set a higher cap than the vanilla.

hahahaha, :grin

I am just going to answer with mods. :friends
:scratchhead
Uncapped Settlement Surplus

The mod page also talks to the vanilla problem.
it was made by IDEK so you know it is good. I have used it forever with SS.

Plots also use water. The plot plaque will say how much at that level.

damn-it hahahaha I am doing to bed. I keep being just too slow on the draw. :victory

I'd been using Uncapped Settlement Surplus; but didn't install for this playthrough as I thought it'd conflict with SS/C.

But if memory serves, settlement production caps aren't suppose to kick in until >3 settlements. That's what the readme for USS said, anyway.
Edit: nope, I'm wrong. Just been using USS for too long, and got spoiled.

But no worries, back USS goes into my load order.

Some warnings about uncapped resource production.

That excess food sitting in your workshop is going to make settlement attacks have a much higher chance. Which could be intentional for some and not wanted by others.

I aint ever tested it, but if you go over the 65k amount in a workshop does it cause you issues because you exceeded the game numerical values?

Settlement Attacks: Uncapped Settlement Surplus has a setting to reduce attacks. There are three settings: 1/ Turned off (ie normal attacks as you say), 2/ Reduce attacks - the default (doesn't take stored food/water into consideration), 3/ Disable attacks

65k limit: I've not tested this either. Since you can have over 100,000 caps (I've had over a million), that breaks the 65k (2-byte integer) limit. This means the top is probably closer to a 2-4 billion (4-byte integer) limit, signed or unsigned.

Yeah I also wondered about it, just never got the urge to go crash my game intentionaly, lol.

Regarding accumulated resources acting as settlement-attack-bait, I'd been using Immersive Gameplay mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14669 for the last year, which stops all off-screen settlement attacks. It makes them utterly, absolutely, insanely brutal--but only when you get there. But IG conflicted too much with Bi Rait Bec's system...and it's been retired. For now. Which is unfortunate, as IG plus Increased Spawns mod made the game pretty challenging. I used to die. A lot. Now it's almost too easy...*sniffle*

Now I just started up "SKK Settlement Attack System" https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/37393?tab=files as part of my latest Bi Rait Bec build. Have only had 1 settlement attack so far, which waited until I was on-screen; and it was meh in difficulty. Guess I'll have to tweak the settings.

You can have more then 65k of any item, including caps, in the workbench, inventory or another containers. What you shouldn't do is adding or removing more then 65k *at once.* That will cause an integer overflow.
