I've been thinking about working on a pack of single-level city plans designed to provide a wider variety of Conqueror start-up options, but I'm not sure if anyone other than myself would be interested. If I'm designing them freely, they would likely be slightly more complex than City Plan Contest entries - which is to say, the most complex I'd allow myself to build would be double the regular build limit without factoring the impact of plots themselves. I'd certainly be open to requests for certain settlements with specific limits or themes, but due to my studies, I couldn't promise specific time frames (estimate, sure, but not promise). If it would help people decide whether or not they're interested, I could collect links to all the city plan contest entries I submitted.

So the real question, would anyone like to see me put this together?

So I’ll explain my answer (yes but depends on the plans).

I’m on Xbox so my machine has its limitation and I have yet to see a city plan that doesn’t kill my build limit way before getting to completion. Therefore I don’t use plans at all. So if the question was “would I download what you planned to do” then the answer would be a simple no.

But I am thinking about finding a way to make city plans that would only have one level and would just place all the interior plots in existing buildings and nothing else. Just to make it way easier in the future to start a new game. So if someone was to do something like that I would totally download it.

That being said, Im sure way more people would be interested in your ideas than mine!

I did say that I'm open to themes and challenges, and not only does this seem like one I could definitely work with, it's actually already got some wheels turning. Obviously, not all settlements have existing structures to work within, but of those that do, which two or three would you be most interested in seeing built up this way?

Hey again! A bit surprised by your answer but also happy to keep the discussion going.

You are right that there aren’t many settlements that would offer an interesting setup for a city plan of only interior plots in existing structures. No matter how perfect it is to use Corner Pallet in the only house in Tennepine bluffs, it would be a hell of a boring city plan.

I haven’t tried to build with Sim Settlements in either Covenant or Bunker Hill so I won’t even consider them. Didn’t try any Far Habour DLCs settlements either but if memory serves me correctly there should be two or three that should offer some nice possibilities.

Starting with the best options:
Sanctuary. It’s an obvious one. I use the add-on pack SirLach intimate spaces. It has interior residential plots that use only a 1x1 which makes even more of the rooms usable. It’s easy to make it a 15+ settlers using only existing bedrooms. It also has done perfect options for interior work plots (kitchen, laundry room etc).

Sunshine Tidings Coop. Another one I feel is obvious. I tend to make it an industrial city. The cabins can fit two residential plots... as long as I choose the plans smartly. There is also the other two bigger buildings that can serve different purposes.

The Castle. It’s big, it has potential to have a lot of interiors. The three big rooms can serve as multi-interior residential plots barrack types. The interior corridor is full of nooks that can have plots too.

Egret Tours Marina. Need to be creative but I had a lot of fun cramming a bunch of interior plots in there.

Abernathy farm: it’s not big but I personally liked using the interior as much as I could.

Jamaica plains, Taffington Boathouse, The Slog could all have about half a dozen interiors for housing.

So those are basically the ones that offer enough space for it to be interesting in kinda the order I found them most interesting to work with (for the interior spots only).

Any indication got a different opinion of options I didn’t think about?

This is something we are looking at once the normal settlements are all done. :)

This is something I've been doing for a while now, building raider outposts and then bring them from save to save with me, adding a little to them each play through.
I won't be releasing them though as they use other workshop mods.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one thinking along these lines! I have no doubt that when the team turns their attention to this sort of thing, there will be an abundance of excellent options. For my part, I'm a little more impatient than that if I'm honest.

  1. Sanctuary
  2. Sunshine Tidings Coop
  3. The Castle
  4. Egret Tours Marina
  5. Abernathy farm
  6. Jamaica plains, Taffington Boathouse, The Slog
I hope you'll forgive the reformatting - this just gives me a nice list to refer to.
If anyone else would like to see a super-light build in any of these settlements, please let me know!

How DARE you reformat me?

Yeah I’m kidding. Trust me I get it. I’ve often done that type of thing myself.
