Solved Persistent Problem with Tinuvia's Metal Townhouse

I have tried using both the AIO version of Wasteland Venturer's and the two Wasteland Venturer's and Wasteland Venturer's 2. When I switched from the two mods to the AIO version I first uninstalled the other two mods before installing the AIO version. Each time I changed out the load order of my mods I started from a new game and did not attempt to continue the prior game.

What I am experiencing is the refusal of the game to properly render the Metal Townhouse. What gets built in the plot are the various items on the main floor of the Metal Townhouse such as the mattress, cooking station, and random leaning letter and over the top of these objects clipping through them KingGath's Raised Shack gets built (the one on stilts.) If I refresh the plot the proper Metal Townhouse gets built. But if I stand in front watching it after a few moments the townhouse structure fades away and is replaced by the shack on stilts structure.

I post this here because it is unclear to me it this is a problem with the addon mod or the main game itself.

In addition to this problem, I have also experienced the Metal Townhouse being replaced by The Wasteland Lounger. The game completely ignores my selection of the Metal Townhouse and insists instead on building the Wasteland Lounger. Refreshing the plot does the same thing. It builds the Metal Townhouse and then after a few moments replaces it with the Wasteland Lounger.

The wasteland lounger is a special plot and best way to do that is scrap it and make a new plot - then chose which one.

@MrCJohn - I have found that will sometimes work. I have auto-assignment selected in global city building options. My experience is that after placing a new plot there is a delay before the sensor is added to the pole. By the time I am able to activate it a homeless settler may have started construction before I can make my selection. I am speculating that the raised shack was selected by the settler to build and that when I make the selection for the Metal Townhouse the game will not forget the original selection. I am thinking that before building this lot I may have to turn off auto-assignment and then place the plot.

I would welcome any other ideas about what might be causing this or input as to whether my theory is plausible.

My hunch is this may have something to do with the VIP system. VIP's love the Wasteland Lounger. It's been a while since I've used Res Plots, but back when I did, if a VIP moved in she would override my own plot choice for a Wasteland Lounger.

This, however, is only a guess.

@Barbara917 I think you are right in that the first plot selection is being "remembered" which is why you are getting two different plot designs in the same place. For me this has occasionally happened with other plots when I have script lag in my game (usually when I've been wildly running around testing lots of plots at the same time). I hadn't thought of it being related to the assignment, but that might also be possible.

As @bullyrook says, the assignment is definitely true for the Wasteland Lounger showing up. All Kinggath's VIP designs are made for that plot. Any settler can randomly get made VIP and will then build their special VIP plot with decorations, regardless of what plot was in place to begin with. They should respect it if you then change the plan to something else, but script lag may have delayed this too. Reassigning the VIP settler to another plot may help. :moil:heart

Edit: If the double plot thing is caused by script lag, standing still in a settlement for 10-15 real time minutes usually helps clear up any stuck scripts (unless you've already tried this, of course).

@Tinuvia @bullyrook @MrCJohn - I did not know about the VIP system. Thank you for cluing me in on the Wasteland Lounger. Now that I understand why the game is placing it I can work around that. I am going to try to remember to turn auto-assignment off before placing the townhouses. I have not thought to stand still in a settlement for 15 real-time minutes. Next time I get an issue like this I'll go make a sandwich and see if that works.
