Question Soldiers acting strangely in outpost, guard assignment question

I'm playing as the institute faction pack. All of my soldiers seem to be running around my outpost somewhat nonsensically, back and forth with no real clear destination. They also all have their weapons out. Is this intentional, i.e. are they "patrolling"?

Also, when I tried to assign one of my soldiers as a guard at a connected vassal, it doesn't leave my outpost. It just keeps running around in the strange fashion above. When I try to move the guard to the desired vassal with the console, it starts sprinting back to the outpost. Is this normal behavior?

I've seen this playing Raider questline. Can't say if it's intentional or not, definitely hilarious.

I wonder if this is similar to when after moving a settler to another settlement they decide to stick around for a while like they really don't want to leave home. Sometimes they'll stay as long as you are still in the settlement.

Have you tried using the town meeting gavel at the vassal instead of console commands? I don't really know why it would matter, but if the guard is "registered" at the vassal then using the gavel should gather her around. If she isn't and somehow still assigned to the outpost, using the gavel in the vassal wouldn't call her up, right?

This sounds like the same behavior I posted earlier, playing the Raider questline. For me, using the gavel helped temporarily move my raiders where they belonged, but as soon as I visited the vassal, they ran back. I also experience the running around looking ridiculous, but I assumed it was idle markers in my prebuilt outpost (Starlight from RoC).

I can at least confirm that the city plan in isolation probably isn't causing the running around, I used starlight as an outpost pre-4.1.0 and my soldiers animated normally. So I would guess either it's an interaction involving the new framework in 4.1.0+ or theoretically a change in the city plans in the new versions, though I doubt that's the case

I am having this issue as well, warriors at my red rocket outpost running all around when they have been assigned as guards to Abernathy farm. I am also having raiders that were sent as guards to vassals turn into workers somehow once they arrive. I tried taking control of Abernathy to see if that would help and a lot of the plots there upgraded while I was in control and I saw the two shops show the blue place holder outlines for assignment. Once I returned control of the vassal and went back to RR the warriors were still running around.

I am also running into an issue where some raider recruits wont let me change their troop type. All it shows is the interact key, no troop type key.

Enjoying the potential of this expansion but I have had a lot of growing pains. I have struggled with crashes and ended up doing a clean install and I have dramatically pared down my mods. I have still had to restart multiple times reducing the quality of the cities each restart and am now currently playing on medium.

Love the voice acting work, great job to all the artists and scriptwriters involved.
The Toilet King side quest and all the supporting characters in particular are awesome !!

They are appearing on the vassal summary as workers . I have to go to the vassal, take control and assign them to the defense plots. In some of these cases , there isn't an assignment choice when I hover over them, it just says raider recruit with the interaction keyboard choice. I can assign them if I control the vassal but I don't have the option to change their troop type.

Sorry, what I meant was: When you do get to the vassal are these "worker" recruits assigned to or actually working other plots, like Farms or Industrials? or are they completely unassigned?

I'm wondering if auto-assign + auto role change is assigning them to open work plots and re-roling them to workers. (It might be, but maybe they are unassigning from those plots just like they unassign from guard posts.)

TBH I also wonder if just turning off auto role change in the Conqueror menu will solve this problem.

The guards still will unassign from their posts whenever you arrive at the Vassal, but at least they should remain guards. So control will remain constant, even if defense fluctuates between reassigning them to their posts.

I don't know if auto-assign off will fix the problem with your current guards turned workers, but doing so should make sure any future recruits you send to vassals as guards stay guards.

Also, if you are checking the Vassal settlement report at an Outpost, one thing I've noticed is that things like control percentage and W/R/E production don't seem to fully update until you actually have visited the vassal. I wish we could actually check the report at a vassal! But there's definitely some sort of lag in updating the report ( at least there is in my game).

So whenever I assign a patrol to a vassal and then check the report, the control percentage will go up some but it won't immediately register the full amount it should have gone up. It seems to immediately report the base control, but not the bonus control that patrols get from warriors. This eventually sorts itself out after a visit to the vassal.

Likewise, if a plot in a vassal has auto upgraded and I then check the report at an Outpost, only the base production seems to be reported. I have to make an actual visit to the vassal in order to get the report to show the full production (bonus production from vasasls/morale bonus).

Whether this will sort itself out on its own given enough time, I can't say. I'm too impatient and actually visiting the Vassal seems to force the update.

Was just about to ask this same issue.
I'm also playing with the Institute Conqueror Pack.

It happened after raiders attacked my main base which is the Mechanist's Lair (Also had Mechanist Lair overhaul installed (somewhat cleaner lair and the workshop area is the entire facility))

So at the start of the attack, my soldiers started running around with their weapons out in an alert state, and I started to hunt. (It's a rather big base lol). Managed to kill them all but my soldiers never got out of their alert state.

New recruits also get roped into this behavior. Most likely, the base thinks it's still under attack.

Is there any way to incite another defense so I get the chance to get them out of their alert state?

Building a siren, turning it on and off, didn't seem to work.

Glad i found this thread, I"m having the exact same issue.
1. Settlers running around in circles alerted
2. No role label available for several settlers.
They were there and then quite a few disappeared, while some still stay. hmmmmm....?
3.Also experiencing workers not going to their commercial plot to work. I can still click them and trade but they are wandering around the outpost lol.

Im having similar issues without use of a faction pack. I thought the alerted warriors was just part of their new raider AI. Turning off auto assign did stop my raider guards from turning to workers but it didnt stop them from unassigning themselves to their martial plots every time I enter a vassel settlement.

Ive also seen raiders without a label but usually the label comes back after the scripts catch up a little....or the other raiders kill them. Ive seen both happen but hard to tell exactly what is going on.
