Query re. County Crossing City Plan

Just captured County Crossing and used the City Plan Contest-winning design by Myrmarachne, got that L0 build up and looking bloody sharp. Just one question though - are the original settlement buildings supposed to be scrapped as part of this blueprint? Because the city building process removed them, but the blueprint placed idle markers and beds in areas where it seems like they were intended to have been part of said original structures (i.e. beds inside the ramshackle old shed).

Anyone who's already built this (or Myrmarachne themselves), if y'all could chip in with an answer that'd be sweet
:aye:

Hi! Glad you like the plan :friends Myrmarachne says he didn’t scrap the original buildings. I actually think you can’t scrap them unless you have a scrapping mod (such as Scrap Everything) which generally aren’t recommended with city plans.

Would it be safe to say a scrapping mod like Scrap Everything is automatically assuming that it needs to scrap these elements? If so, this goddamn mod is an absolute bane to my existence but I conversely cannot live without it - as to me there is something oddly zen about going around and manually cleaning up settlements.

I will attempt a rebuild with Scrap Everything disabled, and will report back my results.

EDIT: Nnnope! Turned off the scrap mods and both the house and shack disappeared.

You may have another mod that disables precombined objects. Any mod that does this will cause the scrapping problem. This includes scrap AND greenery mods.

First, check your Fallout4.ini for bUseCombinedObjects=1. If it says bUseCombinedObjects=0, change it to bUseCombinedObjects=1.

Next, check, Fallout4Custom.ini for the same thing, and finally any .ini files in your Fallout 4 Data directory.

If you still can't find it, in Fallout4Custom.ini, find the [General] section, and under it, add bUseCombinedObjects=1 and try again.

I'll give those cheeky buggers a hoon, then see if it fixes what ails me.

EDIT: Nooo, still scrapping those bits and bobs.

I'm gonna gut my load order down to the essentials and get it built then. If I do that and then reactivate everything after the fact, what is the likelihood that I reload the game and the stuff is gone? And if it is there, is it likely to be scrapped during a City Upgrade?

Found the naughty little mod that was causing me grief - All Settlements Extended.

Fortunately for me, one of my other mods (not sure which) granted an effective tell as to whether or not I had found the troublesome mod in question. The house at County Crossing would change its paint color to red if things were about to get fucky, and to grey if things were A-OK. So it was just a matter of loading in mods in groups until I found my irksome little grievance.

Now that my horrific ordeal of terror is over, could anyone shed light as to why ASE might have interjected into the city plan process like this?

All Settlements Extended makes the buildable area of your Settlements larger. To do that requires breaking precombines, sooooo...

It’s not *quite* that bad - it depends upon how much of a performance hit fps-wise you are willing to accept. Some people are quite happy with it.

The All Settlements Extended mod is made by neeher, who has a pretty good rep. He has to target certain things for scrapping, breaking precombines because that’s a must. If he doesn’t then you aren’t going to have much of a building experience in a larger area.

(As I understand it, another good one is Annexe The Commonwealth by E. I’ve not dealt with it.)

Your issue isn’t that scrapping mods are bad per se. Your issue is that you’re using a city plan which is not designed to be used with All Settlements Expanded.

The system understandably gets confused, goes farther than you expect, and it’s a “Wait, wuh?” moment for all.

Well I can live without ASE, truth be told it was kind of a leftover from a Sanctuary/Red Rocket megabuild I undertook yonks ago. Got over 100 settlers between the two locations before things started to get screwy. Shame, it was a beautiful settlement... pre-SS as well!

I digress, to bring back my previous question. If I were to reactivate Scrap Everything (one of the two mods causing me grief) now that the L0 build is complete, would the transition from L0 to L1 result in the game instinctively deleting that house-wreck again? Or am I in the clear?

I have no idea, soz. No experience with that.
