Vanilla Bug - Unsolved Vendor fails to function at Abernathy Farm

Homesteader AddOn User Reports...

The settler assigned to the masonry store at Abernathy doesn't have dialog, just a greeting response. Is he more a "flavor" merchant (like more of a shop meant for locals), or is something borked in my game?

I am using Immersive Settlers and Better Settlers, but no other settler mods (especially not DCMS) and nothing that modifies Abernathy. I did use both the IBB and the "refresh all plots" option in the Sim Settlements holotape, but both before and after SS 2.0/Industrial Revolution, it was the same. Wasn't hurting anything, so I left it, that's why I tried again after the big update.

I've double checked addon and everything looks okay -- I've only spawned a single counter vendor (of L1-3 as appropriate). Googling around the web it appears some folks have had trouble with vendors being "too far" (down the hill) from the workbench area -- possible different cell issue???

If you sleep 24 hours and talk to him again, does he gain the dialogue? There are definitely vanilla issues with vendors not getting the correct dialogue.

Or maybe it is just Abernathy, the southern part of the settlement doesn't work even with the vanilla borders

I think its an abernathy issue. I don't like building in Abernathy but I did last night and after a couple hours some of my containers refused to open. As many or you are aware, vendors are nothing more than npcs linked to a container. If you cant open it, neither can they. factions excluded from this theory of course.

A good way to check if your vendor isn't "too far" away is to check if the needs meter for your settlement is still on your screen or if it has disappeared, before you drop the plot. Every time I've had an issue with a vendor not having dialogue, I've placed the vendor (specifically, the actual PLACE where the vendor STANDS) is outside of the zone where the needs meter fades in and out.

Further details from user...
(I asked if settler was for sure a "settler" and not an Abernathy resident; also suggested re-assigning vendor to be a different settler; and to "refresh plot" using ASAM on pole. We'll see if anything helps)

Fast-traveling and other cell-unloading hasn't made a difference. I've stopped by to say hi several different times, and during business hours (and after, just in case), and his response is always a variant of "'Sup." :)

I set up the plot that became the masonry store about 3 full-size floor squares north of the main house, close to the eastern edge--just enough room for another plot (bar, which works), and a walkway wide enough for brahmin to pass through without getting stuck (seriously, why do ALL my provisioners go through Abernathy? lol). It is maybe halfway between the big house and the northernmost edge of the settlement boundary.

Also, yesterday I installed neeher's settlement expansion mod, pushing the edges of Abernathy out about 2 squares on that side. The HUD is visible in that terrain, but masonry guy is still as talkative as ever.

So, my guess is something to do with my specific load order, or simply that one plot placement got skewed somehow. Everything else of yours works, though another masonry store hasn't cropped up yet. Maybe I'll T-square a new plot in another settlement and see what happens.

Did you ever figure this out?

damn ive came across the settlement needs window dis-apearing and re-apearing and have thought about something like this messing with merchants and whatnot and have had it happen

i have left and came back and they have the store dialog so

im getting a feeling its a vanilla problem

i would post more errors i have came across but i got the garbage dont call me settler mod installed (not installed now) before i found out what it does later on

I have this same problem in Abernathy Farm. Apologies if it was resolved elsewhere.

Vendors will not enter barter dialogue.

Observations & Stuff I've tried:
-Sleeping for 24 hours at Abernathy (no effect).
-Commercial plots are all south of the Farm, back edges were outside the build area, but HUD works where they are standing. Moved a plot so its entirely inside and tried again (no effect).
-After hours, the same settlers would enter the Trade Stuff dialogue. For example, when sitting at the bar.
-Store vendors will not accept reassignment to other jobs.
-Reset local plots (no effect).
-I think I hear the "busy" click when I try to talk to them in their store. The one you get when you try to start a conversation with someone but they've already started small talk.

Mods I'm running:

-HUD Framework
-Sim Settlements (latest) The problem started with an older rev and didn't fix with the update.
-Industrial Revolution (latest) The problem started before installing IR.
-Wasteland Ventures (latest) The problem started before I was running this one.

Thanks

Yeah, Abernathy Farm seems to have trouble with vendors for some reason.
I think there might be 2 different "cells" or world areas and perhaps only one really contains the settlement.
You might try building a commercial very close to the farm and/or just north of it and see if that works.

Commercial worked just North of the main farmhouse.
I built a new commercial plot up there. Assigned a settler. Barter dialogue opened just like it should. No problem.

Something I forgot to mention in Observations before:
The clinic dialog worked down south of the farm. The settlers would start the conversation asking about ailments.

Now I'm curious if this is a problem for commercial down there for everyone/all the time. I'm not positive, but I thought my commercial plots were working down there in the past. I have close to a dozen commercial plots down there and none will start the barter dialogue (exception is the clinics I mentioned above). I'm willing to keep trying stuff...

So, wait.. The commercial vendors in RotC are supposed to have actual vendor dialog? I have a lvl 3 Starlight and NONE of the vendors have actual vendor dialog. They all have to same boring settler dialog and when I try to interact with them, my character just says the same old 'I just want to trade a few things'.
