I'd like to make a thread that is all about the Role Playing aspect of Conqueror. Please post how you see your Conqueror character reacting to the new world they wake up to after being frozen, seeing their adoring spouse shot in the face, their baby son kidnapped, frozen again, and then thawed out again while all alone in a dead cold vault that was supposed to be their salvation in humanity's darkest moment.

Please provide:
Character Name:
Character Gender:
Prime Motivator:
Narrative:
Which Faction will you "win" with?

Character Name: Ozymandias
Character Gender: Male
Prime Motivator: Dominate everyone and kill all those remotely responsible for the atrocities of Vault 111.

Narrative: He's basically snapped when he gets back home to Codsworth. He's going to make the world burn. He doesn't know how when he first leaves the Vault, but Raiders are what he first comes across. He has military training, he bears the scars of war... these wimps haven't seen anything yet.

Faction: I think the Railroad is the only viable faction for him to really get behind. The Brotherhood is a possibility, but they have too many rules. They have a leader he can't just supplant... they're competition in the Commonwealth. The Institute is going to pay, and pay hard. Shaun left him in the vault until he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. That son of a biscuit eater! Nope. No fraternal love there for that sack of poo. So, the Railroad with its twisted sense of morality valuing machines over blood is tolerable, but his main aim is to use them as an Intelligence gathering network for all the goings on in the Commonwealth. He can tolerate their obsession with plastic people for what he can get out of them.

Character Name: Bubbles
Character Gender: Female
Prime Motivator: Kill the voices.

Narrative: Bubbles might have been a little fragile before the vault. The pregnancy was difficult. But it was the combination of extended time in cryo, some sort of surgical experiment conducted during cryo and the shock of her husband's death that broke her. At this point, she isn't sure what is and what isn't real anymore. The giant bugs in the vault taught her one thing; kill them before they hurt you.

Faction: Win? Bubbles doesn't play to win.

Here is Bubbles scouting out her first ouptost location.

Character Name:Lilith
Character Gender:Gurl
Prime Motivator: I need Some medicines cine cines

I was happy once ,I had a loving husband and a beautiful baby boy. A clean and peacefull neighbourhood with a beautifull park where the magic happened,

Then it happened the world died ,Fire and Ash Death and Destruction.

But we was safe, stuck in a hole in the ground , my neighbours are safe ,the ones who made it to the vault. the rest are gone. My family ,my friends all dead the fire took them all.

But we are safe,we was given hope for a new life underground, but that was lie.

We had to be decontaminated ,another lie.

I woke up and I saw horror , my husband was murdered before my eyes my baby was taken yet I could do nothing but bash upon the glass and that face ,that evil face then darkness again.

I awoke ,my poor Nate was gone ,my neighbours ,all dead or missing. Everything looked so old, what had happened?
Giant roaches what the hell, my god what has happened ,Dead people everywhere am I the only one left?
I must escape this hole in the ground,

My god everything is dead
everything is ash
they took everything
I lost all
I suffer
they must suffer
they must feel the pain I feel
they will all die
KILL EM ALL
LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR

Character Name: Viktor Fries
Character Gender: Male
Prime Motivator: despair
Narrative: My family and I were frozen... I recall - waking? dreaming? a nightmare - where my wife was murdered and my infant son stolen... I was powerless to help, powerless to stop it... then it all went white and frozen once again...
There was an accident - a flaw... my cryo suspension ended, but something had gone wrong... more than 200 years had passed, and I was forever changed... my heart is cold... my feelings frozen... the world is strange and alien.... my wife, dead... my son, I presume, dead after so much time... I am alone and the world - the world would be better frozen... ice - the peace and serenity of ice... yes, the world would be better off like me... cold...

Character Name: Devil
Character Gender: Neutral
Prime Motivator: Bored and visiting.

I see you but through different eyes, for I am not a loving person, nor that of compassion, love is a mere function of desperation, pitiful and deceitful, you are but a contradiction, yet…… I am curious and no more.

You sow those feeble excuses, you tell stories for an effect only to hide or divert a blame. For who I am is only for what you see, how you see, festered by the limitations of vision. You see me as evil, scared of who I am, my home, to be within my presents, so you listen to the stories, told with shallow imagination and believe the lies, for I am but guilty and you are the innocent

As I wander these baron lands, I ask you this one question,

“How many have you killed on your journey?”

My answer “None”.

Am I to blame for your doings, to blame with intent, as I pulled the trigger in your hand, toyed with your mind? The soft whisper, the wandering thought, a suggestion to a weak mind, a story yet twisted into a Hero’s revenge to a willing audience when chosen and as you drank that Nuka Cola, built your home from a marvel of scrap and saved the settlement from an attack, where is my whisper then?

You see us as enemies, the Good or the Bad, be we are no more than you, different and yet the same, as he is the Inn Keeper and I am the Prison Warden and when all is said, we wait upon your choice.

I am a wanderer and I shall wander.

Character Name: Red, Red the Raider, Ice Man
Character Gender: M
Prime Motivator: Survive his inner demons which also serve him strongly.
Narrative: Red is a recreation of a prior character years ago named Rex the Red, who was a Nuka raider wannabe sent over to scout the Commonwealth. This version of Red is a troubled man whose marriage was saved only by the baby. Seeing the world as hell, being a violent soldier and a bad husband, the post-apocalypse doesn't seem so bad from his perspective. His wife is dead. His son is kidnapped, but he not even remotely believes it happened yesterday.

Meeting Jammer in this new hellish landscape, someone who was clearly smarter than the rest of the fodder fighting downtown, he simply pushed forward with the strongest option available. He's getting by and power intrigues him. Jammer himself mentioned seeing that Red liked taking the fight to other raider factions ("I can see it in your eyes.").

Which Faction will you "win" with? I don't intend Red to join the BoS or Railroad, and Preston died without a moment's hesitation by Red. Raider Central through and through. Shaun? Abandoned to the world as Red himself was abandoned by the world.
Presenting a True Tale from the Gaming InterwebsThe Bear, The Dragon, The Stag and Red the Raider

Raider Gal: “Hey kid, I saw you giving the Boss the side-eye last night. Looking to be the Boss?”
Raider Guy: “So? I’d lead the best raider gang you ever saw, but whatever. I’ll grant you the Ice Man is tough, but what raider Boss walks everywhere including to a raid? And what’s with that painted target on his backplate?”
Raider Gal: “Oh kid, I wouldn’t let him hear you call him that. Sure, he was from that vault on the hill over there, completely frozen or something because of Vault-tec, you know that right?”
Raider Guy: “So how’d he get unfrozen then?”
Raider Gal: “He unfroze himself, that’s how tough he is.”
Raider Guy: “That’s just a story.”
Raider Gal: “Think you got what it takes to be a Boss? Got any support for the takeover? What ya going to do about Sentinel or One-Shot?”
Raider Guy: “Sentinel will drop dead soon from the smell alone. That guy needs to get out of his power armor more.”
Raider Gal: “I hear ya talking, but don’t see it in your eyes like you need if you’re gonna be Boss. Besides, the Boss will see you coming before you even know you started. Others have tried . . ..”
Raider Guy: “And failed, yeah, I get it.”
Raider Gal: “You think Sentinel smells bad? You will be too when you’re a rotting corpse inside that armor.”
Raider Guy: “What? You mean . . . there’s a corpse in the suit? The suit walks around by itself?”
Raider Gal: “Yeah. Imagine all the pre-war tech by the people with the best smarts you can think of, all those now long dead bastards distilled into a single drop of technological horror – that’s what powers that suit. That’s Sentinel. You see when a raider gets his notions about being the Boss, the Boss beats ‘em to death with that swatter of his . . ..”
Raider Guy: “Who made that thing, anyway? What’d he call it?”
Raider Gal: “Hate and Malice. So listen, you keep interrupting. Like I said the Boss beats ‘em to death if they get notions, then he puts their corpse inside the suit.”
Raider Guy: “As a warning to others in the gang?”
Raider Gal: “No, as a warning to uppity settlers who don’t want to work for free. See, the Boss will have Sentinel roll up, then open up in front of them. That corpse, not matter how long gone, just slides out in front of them kneeling settlers. Sentinel closes up and walks away.”
Raider Guy: “Oh shit . . ..”
Raider Gal: “Imagine yourself as a settler seeing a rotting corpse fall out and the power armor just walks away without anyone inside.”
Raider Guy: “Yeah . . ..”
Raider Gal: “Look kid, the vault thing might be a story but here’s what happened to the Boss down at Natick. This is true, so listen up. So the Boss was walking south past that Red Rocket when a big ol’ Yao Guai rolls down the hillside at him.”
Raider Guy: “Shit! Natick is nothing but bears and Deathclaws from what I heard! What’d the Boss do?”
Raider Gal: “. . . the Boss didn’t do anything but stare at the bear. The bear didn’t really see the Boss from that far, just saw something coming down the road and made to go eat it. But when that bear finally saw it was the Boss it turned around and ran back the way it came.”
Raider Guy: “No way that happened.”
Raider Gal: “It happened. Pay attention kid. This is true. The bear runs away from the Boss, but just coming over the hilltop from the Glowing Sea was a Deathclaw. Like you said, nothing but them down past Natick. So this Yao Guai and this Deathclaw are tearing at each other and the Boss is just watching. You can imagine the fight, right?”
Raider Guy: “Hell yeah I can. Yao Guai are no joke.”
Raider Gal: “They’re tearing at each other when this deranged Radstag decides to join in the fight, rushing up the hill. That happens to them sometimes when someone’s making too much noise, they get pissed. I mean, imagine it – this Deathclaw and this Radstag are going at this bear with all they got.”
Raider Guy: “A pissed Radstag isn’t something to mess with either. The Boss just staring at ‘em the entire time?”
Raider Gal: “Yeah, so despite fighting a deranged stag and a Deathclaw from the Glowing Sea itself – not one of them kind you see up past Lynn Woods, but an honest to hell Deathclaw born and growed up in the Sea with all that radiation, that bear wins and walks away.”
Raider Guy: “Shit.”
Raider Gal: “Get this straight in that head of yours, kid. No matter how badass that bear was fighting a Deathclaw and Radstag on this hill, and winning, the next time you get notions about taking over as the Boss remember who that bear ran away from first.”
Raider Guy: O.O
Raider Gal: “Hey, looks like Jammer and the Boss are calling up people for a raid. Best get yourself over there. Listen kid, if you want to impress the Boss, make sure to be up front with him during the raid.”
Raider Guy: “The Boss is going on the raid?”
Raider Gal: “The Boss always goes with us on a raid.”
Raider Guy runs off to the growing crowd.
Random Other Raider: “You know the hired guns protecting that settlement will tear that kid to pieces if he’s up front with the Boss, right?”
Raider Gal: “Yup. See, the Boss asked me to keep an eye out for up-and-comers, or what he likes to call Little Bears. He doesn’t mind ambition, hell, if you can fight like that bear in Natick and yet run away from the Boss when you get notions, he’d want to know about that raider.”
Random Other Raider: “So how’d you get with this gang?”
Raider Gal: “You know all those raiders that hung with Jared, Tourette and Tower Tom? I’m the only one of those the Boss spared. He recruited me, so here I am.”
Random Other Raider: O.O

Remember kids, only the most fantastical parts of this story are true (YouTube link time 1:46 to about 5:35 or so)

Сharacter Name: Jesse
Character Gender: Male
Prime Motivator: blessed are the merciless
Narrative: was born mean, was raised mean and grew up on stories of blood, killing, scalping and using that scalp as a home decoration. No laws and no prisons suits him just fine, Has a soft spot for BoS and free fusion cells, also likes Children of Atom, praised be His Light.

Character name: Domacles, or Dom for short
Character Gender: Male
Prime Motivator: Well? He was already a juvenile delinquent BEFORE the war. Post-apocalyptic world with virtually no rules? Yeah, the pitbull's off the leash, and he's got a bone to pick.

Narrative/backstory:
Maybe it was because his mother misspelled his name--it should be spelled Damocles. He was a troublesome child from the get-go, and he was an out-of-control teenager, having nearly killed a classmate in grade 11. He was given a choice: go to jail and serve an adult sentence, or join the army. Structure and discipline mellowed him out in the few years he served, gave him a chance at a normal, productive life. College, paid for by the Army, also introduced him to Amanda, his first true love. They married in 2076, just after his discharge.

The birth of Shaun in late summer of 2077 changed him again, and for a brief while, the angry, out-of-control child he'd been looked like a distant memory. He had a family, a home, and a bright future--several companies in Boston were courting him as an IT specialist thanks to his education and training in the Army.

Then, October 23, the bombs fell. In an instant, his world was turned upside-down. Frozen for two centuries, his wife murdered before his eyes, his son ripped from her still-warm body by unknowns... everyone he knew, gone--save for Codsworth, his robot servant.

His drive is anger at the world, vowing revenge against the person or persons responsible for his wife's murder, and the abduction of his child. All of the emotions and temperament he'd long suppressed have all boiled back to the surface, and with the military training he has, nothing will stand in his way. A heart turned to stone, he has little use for people, only what he can get, what he can use. Information, tools, supplies. Otherwise, they're just a walking meat sack which takes up space and consumes oxygen.

(the meeting with Kellogg wherein the SS can call him a psychopath... it would be ironic coming from Dom; takes one to know one and all the rot)

Who would he "win" with?
(The canon answer is no one, really. None of the four vanilla factions would actually work for him, if anything they would all drive him crazy with their quirks. He despises synths--by his opinion, no machine should ever have thoughts of its own... so joining a faction wanting to free them? Uh, no, never gonna happen. The BoS have too many rules, and he's turned off by the military at this point--though their hatred for synths would earn a few points of goodwill, perhaps. The Minutemen? No, not gonna happen, really. Preston's 'saving the Commonwealth' crap would also drive Dom crazy. And the Institute? They abducted his son, murdered his wife, and are the CREATORS of the synths in the first place! Nope, he'd want to see that place and everyone in it burn.)

For completion's sake, though, he has to work with someone. So I have him work for the Minutemen, albeit begrudgingly.

Character Name: Kyra "Tink" McKnight
Character Gender: Female
Prime Motivator: Vengeance. Disorder.
Narrative:
Wasted potential. Intelligent, charming, witty, blessed with good fortune -- tiny Kyra never lacked for talent or opportunity, and yet she threw it away at every chance. Jaded, self-sabotaging, irreverent, a fiery temper paired against icy-cold apathy -- she grew up loathing pre-war life and anything that embodied it.

It took a young soldier to lay her a path forward. Rattled by a recent tour in Alaska, yet still an unwavering optimist -- Nate was someone who could cut through to the core of what she was and draw out the absolute best. She traded street chems for bipolar prescriptions, all-night parties for all-night exam crams, bloody knuckles for a wedding ring. The disgusting white picket fence life could be tolerated if she got to come home to something that felt genuine for the first time in her life. In time two became three, completely closing the door on what she once was.

In a literal flash, it was gone. She was a girl who was given everything, only to discard it. She was a woman who cherished very little, only to have it ripped away.

Two centuries later, it took a shrewd raider to lay her a path forward. Disaffected from a recent stint with another crew, yet ever on the lookout for opportunity -- Jammer was someone who could cut through to the core of what she was and draw out the absolute worst. She was off her medication, dangerously well-educated and craving bloody vengeance. The disgusting rabble that flocked to her could be tolerated if she could bend them to her wanton impulses. In time two became many, completely closing the door on what she once was.

Which Faction will you "win" with?
Kyra walks a wobbly line and her fate isn't decided. It comes down to Railroad vs Institute.
  • The Minutemen have nothing she wants. She has no reason to kill Preston upon meeting him, or really pay him much mind at all. After the last body hits the floor at the museum, she condescendingly wishes them luck and sends them on their way to Sanctuary. If they keep their head down, she may even leave them to their own devices off in the corner of the map. If they don't, she'll raze it to the foundations and salt the earth without shedding a tear. She has no desire to see or be reminded of that place ever again.
  • Kyra is a techie, and the Brotherhood of Steel absolutely has things she wants. That said, their strict structure is contrary to her nature and working with them isn't going to be easy. Their sick mockery of her husband's military service puts them further at odds. Her and Danse can look forward to a very hot and cold relationship. She will ultimately destroy them.
  • The Railroad reminds her the least of the life she left behind, which is points in their favor. Perhaps its hypocritical to fight for the freedom of synths while slapping slave collars on humans, but then she probably relates to them more than actual people on a level. Maybe she just gets a thrill out of the romantic spy life or feels at home among the misfits. Whatever her motives, she shows the Railroad her rare softer side, at least for a time. But once things get complicated, her loyalty will fray.
  • Oh hi, son. You never call, write or thaw me out from centuries of cryogenic slumber unless you need something. The Institute is very polarizing. They're clean, sterile and so much everything she hates. Yet, what Father is doing isn't that different from her own campaign. Their advanced technology is deeply alluring. Shaun has unquestionably grown up in his mother's image. At the same time, their goals are at odds. Will she abandon the life of Bandit Queen or turn against the fleeting remains of a life that once made her genuinely happy.

My character is not a Vault Dweller. I dislike the original Fallout 4 character setup, so I made a "normal" person of the Wasteland with the Start Me Up mod.

Character Name: Jodie
Character Gender: woman

Prime Motivator:
A strong desire to establish order, born from a life shaped by loss and survival

Narrative:
Jodie was born in Michigan in 2254 and lived the first 12 years in a more or less secure community. But due to political problems and power struggles with other survivors, the group fell apart, causing Jodie, her brother and her parents to leave and start a life as nomads. The family travelled for many years, but everywhere they went they were greeted with violence and pain. Jodies parents died from radiation sickness and even her brother eventually died in a Deathclaw attack. In 2287, Jodie then arrived in the Commonwealth. She was tired of running and decided that Boston would be her last stop. With the desire to end the daily fighting & the struggle to survive, she accepts the offer of this mysterious guy called "Jammer" and agrees to set up a new faction of survivors that would bring order into the commonwealth, at all necessary costs.

Which Faction will you "win" with?
None. I'll ignore the main quest and just focus on the settlement gameplay & side quests.

Character name: Red Sonja
Gender: Female
Motivator: World is ugly, going to recreate in her likeness.
Background: (I use Start Me Up) Sonja was sold to Forged slavers when she was just a welp. She was born with high intelligence and became aware and understood her situation at a very young age. Sonja played the part she had to for survival. When she became more then just a child, the men tried to use her for their pleasures. She turned the first man who tried to touch her into pulp, she was absolute savage, and the birth of her new name Red Sonja. She was covered in blood and in a furious red frenzy. The Smelter (Forged leader) noticed and took her as his novice and trained her to be his war machine.
Red took the training and the learned at a frightening pace. On her 17th birthday Red had a gift for her clan, she welded the doors shut on the Forged base and set off the fire bombs she had been installing.
Red set forth towards the Commonwealth for new blood and she heard that the Brotherhood was collecting prewar military technology and she wanted it.
Arriving in Concord she chanced upon a raider who set forth in motion events, that will change the Commonwealth forever....

Faction to win with: No one but her Roadboyz.

Updated mine (Red, above) because of a funny incident with a bear, a dragon and a stag near Natick. Did you ever listen to those raiders telling stories in downtown before you killed them. The story in the new spoiler is kinda like that.

Character Name: Leliel
Character Gender: Female
Prime Motivator: Bring about the end.

Narrative: The world became a bit too much to deal with for Leliel. She was already not doing so good after getting unexpectedly pregnant to a man she'd only recently met and giving birth to a son. Most of the motherly tasks and household chores were pawned off on a Mr.Handy as she struggled to keep her career going while being trapped in a marriage she didn't want and a family she wasn't ready for.

And then the bombs fell. The bombs fell and the world ended. She froze to death under ground. She saw her husband die, her child taken by demons, and then she died. but the world didn't end did it? Not really. Not properly. The world burned, but it didn't burn clean, even. The burn need to be complete for the world to be reborn, for paradise to come. So the world need to burn again, and she's the instrument that will relight the flames.

Which Faction will you "win" with? It doesn't matter, they will all burn in the end.

That story is awesome. Really well done. Thanks for sharing that!
