What are your essential mods?

It's not on Nexus because it's VERY adult oriented. You have to Google to find it.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,,,,, like lovers lab or whatever...

Looking back, I didn't realize it was "such"... I just thought it was a good companion like heather!
(I am innocent! I swear!)

And even toning all settings down I'd classify her as fairly foul mouthed & inappropriate...say Deadpool range-ish. Also if you use the "flirt" chat option all filters come off. Just FYI

okay! just looking for one that worked well with Heather! :)

So I tried this, and suddenly Diamond City quests started acting weird -- the first part would be complete by the time I got to them (i.e., the door was already open and Piper inside, and I got the message i talked to the Borobov brothers and Confidence Man started when I walked into the Dugout the second time). I've seen no reports that having Heather with me when I got there affected these quests (pretty sure it would have been reported as a bug by now), and that's the only other new mod I've added lately, other than updates to mods I've used a long time. I suspect the fast loading in those situations is screwing up script timing or something, so I'm going to disable this mod for now and see what happens with it out.

Interesting. I haven't had any issues with it so far, but I also have had Piper already inside and the gate open to Diamond City without being there before (but when I got there she was arguing with Mayor McDunagh).. I think it happens if you're pissing around Boston and get too close to DC without going to it. Apparently, eventually, Danny Sullivan will just let her in. What is weird about it is that everybody still acts like I was in on the deception. IE, Sullivan asks if Piper tricked him with your help and the guards still ask me about being a trade from Quincy. However, I had this thing show up before I ever downloaded this mod, so I don't know. I can't explain the Confidence Man start, though. I haven't had that one.

I have had this too... too close to diamond city or with Horizon, can caravan travel to diamond city... this seems to trigger the door opening...

Yea, that might have been it with the entrance to DC -- now that I think about it, I stopped for the night about a block away from it. The Confidence Man thing was weird, but it may only have been a glitch, since no other quests seem to have bugged out like that. I do miss the faster loading times, though, so I'll probably add it back in once FOSE updates to the latest FO4 release.

Oh God, did we get another update?

*EDIT*

/looks

Oh God!
Sigh! Yes...had to roll back my exe :(
And I had just dropped my active plugin count to 241 with a couple new ones (Minuteman Takeover - Nuka World and Get Dirty) so was looking forward to playing. Well it's rolled back now so I can play to my hearts content for now.

John,

Another companion I really like is:
Barb - simple and so nice, wholesome even. Need simpacks and encouragement. perfect! Barb is best early game.
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13239

But in IMHO one of the best companion mods with a twist. A real gem!
ada2human Redux
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16967
both of the above allow SLM modifications so you can use other presets.

Ivy is a technical suggestion that is a great mod “technically speaking” I wish there was a pg13 or R version.

ada2human is for me a wounerful mid game companion and I highly recommend her to anyone of all ages reading this thread. + dialogue is safe for households.

as everyone has pointed out, Heather is the girl. But diversity is the spice of life
:kiss
:punish that is
ahmmmm.

I'll be honest and say that I've had so many whacked-out-freaky girlfriends (*cough*manwhore*cough*) that I don't want them in a game too. Having the lighthearted, sweet type in a game suits me fine.

Your mileage may vary. ;)

Barb, maybe the prescription for fellas who don’t need “needy” and just want a nice disposition, lots of simpacks, glue and other gifts.

I tried Barb before but she kept glitching out on me, really badly. Ruined a new game with her so I got rid of that mod. But the version currently up is much newer than what I tried so perhaps I should give her another shot

Heather definitely is the go-to companion mod. Have not had any issues... and she falls in love with you... which is interesting if you are Nora.

I know this may seem weird, I have always wondered about Heather's "cough"... I haven't play long enough with her ... is she sick and dies later?

No, but if you listen to her enough, you'll realize she tests all her herbal remedies on herself first, and is constantly trying to find new ones. The Radscorpion poison just makes her sicker ...

Yes, I have heard all the lines... I was just wondering if at some point later - she dies :) impending doom... haha.

For those who find the DC quests triggered too early, the actual quest trigger marker for the quest where Piper gets on the intercom and tries to get in is out at the edges of the square in front of the gate. In fact if you use console to COC into the location you bypass the quest trigger and have to walk away from DC until you hit it. So just walking around the edges of that square will trigger the quest to start.

@Jacozilla stated elsewhere:
I use Uncapped Settlement Surplus to get around the vanilla game basic limits - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12430/
I also use this, because I got sick to death of manual harvesting and shifting purified water out of the workshop. Also the artificial scarcity mentality built in to that mechanic.

Bluntly: It makes zero sense that a machine would stop producing water once it filled the equivalent of two or three one-gallon jugs in the workshop. Ditto for settlers and food, humanity has been drying and preserving various foodstuffs since before the time of Hammurabi.

So, I don’t need an adhesive factory - I’m a one-man factory. Not that I wasn’t before, it’s just minus the personal hassle of visiting every damn plant over several farms.
