The Long Wait!

Settlement building was also provided via mod in Fallout 3 and Skyrim, although there is a line between "a mod did it and Bethesda stole it" and "a mod did it because the idea was popular and bethesda also implemented a version because the idea was popular"

To me, theft of this nature requires more then "a mod did, and so did they, so therefore it's stolen". Imitation isn't theft. Theft would be taking the actual code and design decisions and using them directly (which they may have, I'm just saying ti takes more then 2 things having a similar scope/idea). And in my mind, if Bethesda takes the best and most popular ideas from the previous generation of mods, and adds them to the core game, that's better. We're a vetting ground for ideas that are popular vs a waste of their time. and I'm personally fine with that.
. Generally I don't have a problem with people taking other people's ideas and developing or useing them. It's going to happen. A lot of things like this are going to happen. Someone will always try to mod in old weapons from previous versions of Fallout. That one sword from Morrowind will always show up sooner or later. Hell I think someone did a Horse armor mod for skyrim.

Hey, he could release at 11:59:59.999 tonight and still make his target.

I'll go back to chain refreshing.

SS is so big precisely because it not only fills the biggest gaps in the game, it does so in a technically sound and well supported manner. I wouldn't be surprised if Kinggath were approached by Bethesda to make something for their content creators club or even just to work for them on various games.

Yeah, SS is that good. This mod has been reviewed in quite a few places and it significantly changes how the game feels in a positive way.

Kinggath himself is a very decent human being and a prolific and excellent coder and it shows in the takeup of SS by the community. He has the rare gift of being able to communicate how things work effectively enough that others can follow along - you see this in the form of the tutorials he has released for getting started with modding for SS. His tutorials are literally the reason I and many others are getting into modding and are the framework many are using to bring their own great ideas to the table. These sorts of developers are very rare and need to be cherished whenever they come along. I'm speaking from 20 years of experience as a database architect/admin who has worked with many developers over the years. Kinggath is one of the good ones and through his efforts and mentoring, the community as a whole is more vibrant and fulfilled.

It's easy to understate just how big an impact SS has had on the community as a whole and I really doubt anybody has any idea just how much is in the pipeline even prior to the 2.0 expansion for SS. Give it 3-6 months and we're likely to see an explosion of stuff to the point where SS will be considered as essential as the UFO4P for keeping the game going.

Release when you can Kingath, we're on the edge of our seats looking for what's around the next corner!

As always, thank you for the hundreds of hours of playtime you've added for us. Such a simple thing makes all the difference in the world.

After that speak of @tankthing it's time for sadness and tears:

Why am I waiting on you Kinggath. Move more quicklier. WHY ARE YOU WALKING BUTTERCUP.

My wife is out of town for 4 days for a wedding. My car is out of commission with hail damage. I can't go anywhere and have nothing to do. Let's do this. I'm so bored.

Just out of curiosity..... does anybody have the slightest idea of how we will know when this thing has been released/updated. I am checking the page on the Nexus to see if the latest version has been changed from 1.9. Do I need to check the page on Bethesda.net too? Are you sending out emails or should I stand outside and look for a sign in the night sky?

I'm pretty sure Kinggath will post a notice both in Discord and here.

yeah, he's a badass. I've never seen him argue with mods users or anything. I just noticed on the SS nexus page someone telling him he "screwed up" by taking the support to another forum than the nexus, then going on to call him "kiddo" and say how he blew a chance to be very influential to the modding community. of course KG most likely won't lower himself to argue, so quite a few others of course took it upon themselves to defend him.

I'll know because I've been hanging out on the nexus page refreshing every once in a while. And ill be so excited when it comes that ill make a thread if it hasnt been done already.not the most productive day, but I took a break from my daily responsibilities to enjoy this release day. I ignored it all week and then last night and today made up for that with immense anticipation

The only thing I really don't like is that sim settlements core doesn't appear in the nexus search anymore when I look for it.

The new website is probably the best move from a support perspective. This mod is big enough that it needs its own forums and stuff so Kinggath made the right move. You can't fix stupid so let em talk. SS is currently one of the hottest mods for FO4 right now so if. by dropping out of the Nexus he gave up being "influential" in the modding community because they can't read what's on the mod page and follow a link, well, Darwin's laws in action and filtering most of the toxic stupidity is not necessarily a bad thing.

If Nexus was less of an entitled script kiddie paradise it'd be worth listening more about what is said there.

re nexus check yout tag block settings, I lost Sim Core & Unofficial patch due to tag blocking - I don't remember doing it so not sure if it is a default option to block certain tags - though why it would hit the Unofficial patch is beyond me
