Old Post A thought and suggestion regarding perhaps a third settlemnet type as Conqueror develops

I love the idea of outposts becoming more military focused, but I wonder if it would be possible to keep some more like "regular" settlements. Raiders are in it for cash and blood, but also having a good time-- and settlement locations like Starlite Drive-in are just begging to be made into entertainment hubs, which wouldn't suit an outpost vibe, nor a vassal settlement. I would love for there to be a third option, a trade-hub/entertainment/general settlement, populated by your main faction, and only accessible if you have X number of successful outposts to militarily guard and support it. A place for your baddies to blow off steam, a place for your good guys to have some R&R. I don't know how difficult that might be, or just how different from regular settlements outposts may become to make this kind of suggestion worthwhile. But this is how I've found myself wanting to approach my play through Conqueror, which, as things are presently, is entirely doable, but I wonder if it will remain so later on.

You can sort of, do this for yourself with a little effort. Take Starlight Drive-in for example: make it an outpost and change plot types as you like to fit the ambiance you seek. Change industrial plots to recreational for example, etc.

Actually, I can kind of see the value in this. Normally, you can't export happiness to other settlements. However, with the more militarised design of Conqueror, there's some logic in needing a way to keep up morale. Having a third type of settlement (Territories?) could work similarly to a vassal, where they automatically set up supply lines, but are specifically capable of exporting happiness. This could even be worked into the system by having morale impact combat effectiveness (a buff for high morale or debuff for low) and recruitment speed. Outposts and vassals might even have an inherent happiness penalty to represent that they're not primarily a place to live. So having territories that your gang can (be assumed to) visit in their downtime becomes an important part of the system, like providing chems and cigarettes for the raiders' vices is.

After all, the raiders don't just want to fight, they want to live well.

I like this idea. It sounds like a military Rest and Relaxation area, like China Beach in Vietnam. It could be called R&R and be a place to rotate out your combat vets.

This happiness export may also be attained by developing a faction, mimicking what was done in the world wars via the USO shows.

I like the idea. I always thought that Bunker Hill was a poor place as a caravan hub. It’s to small with limited shop building area. Starlight Driven seems like a much better place than that. It would combine both manufacturing and stores.

I like the idea of Vault 88 becoming the Capital of the Commonwealth. With IDEK’s Logistics Stations ability to have one settlement not be attacked it would be the perfect capital.

How do IDEK’s Logistics Stations have the ability to not have settlements be attacked?

When you put the "logistic storage device" in a workshop, it asks you something like if you would like to turn off settlement attacks at this location and keep you stuff safe or let the normal chance of attack continue.

It can only be done at one settlement.
I have to wonder whether Conquerer would supersede that script with its own, considering you could use IDEK as an exploit to circumvent main base attacks.
