I HATE to say this but CTD happening :(

Being a PC player with a system that marginally exceeds minimum requirements I've had to do some tweaking. Maybe some of my steps can help?

I use ENBoost, optimized textures and the mod 'Insignificant Object Remover'.

Haven't had any problems caused by these, they make no noticeable changes to your visuals in game so there should be no harm in trying them.
Wow. ENBoost worked for you huh? That completely ruined my installation.

I had issues with ctd not long ago. What helped me was changing from 4k to 1k or 2k texture mods. And then I played around with the grapichs options in fallout launcher, turning down/off stuff that had minimal impact on visual. And I turned off high poly objects in the holotape performance options.

I also dont build quite as large settlements as I used to, but as mentioned by someone else. I had ctd both in large and small settlements, and some large settlements had alot less ctds than others. The settlements that gave me the biggest problem was county crossing, the slog, sanctuary and sunshine.

Oh btw, anyone using the Hi-Def texture pack from Bethesda, i'd recommend removing it if you're going to use Sim Settlements. That thing is a monster on your video memory (and not nearly enough of an improvement to justify it).

I have seen enough videos online and heard enough reviews to 100% agree with you that it is not worth the upgrade to the high definition DLC.
Many of the ENB's do as good or better a job.

I do not have it myself. I think a persons best bet is to try some ENB's out and then use a retexture of something you use often. You rarely look around when fighting etc anyhow :)

It could be my luck with computers. I also managed to have a stable copy of Windows ME. Lol
Ok now I KNOW you are drunk or something LOL.
I installed win ME and had it almost a week before getting rid of it.
Vista lasted 2 days.

Of course I am the one that was still using windows 3.1 for fun into 2003ish :)
Yes I did also have win98SE and XP :P

I also found out leaving my browser open will cause an CTD as it uses so much system memory [firefox].

Ok synopsis in order here I think.

We have all had CTD and some of the replies here indicate one thing and some another.
I suggest we all try out some of the suggestions and then get back later today or tomorrow after a few hours of play time and see what works for who ok?

See you guys in 12 or 24 :)

Wow, I don't know what it was. But I downloaded "Load Accelerator" ( http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10283/? ) and followed the instruction there. And...no more fast travel crashes. I tried it from a neutral spot to Red Rocket and from there immedatly to Taffington-Boathouse, without any crash. I walked directly after the port, no issues.

Hope it helps you as well!

I'm going to give this a whirl as well. Something that bothers me is "- GPU load at the loading screen will be higher.". Which could increase the rate of the infamous rainbow texture.

The loading time is far better inmo. Fast travel is now really fast travel :heat

I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if it has been mentioned before but, if you're running Scrap Everything, make sure it and its associated patches are still at the end of your load order. I was getting ctds today and had to move a few things around. So far it seems to have fixed it for me.

omg my gameplay is so much smoother now. should dig up my first save archive and test that lol but ied have to track down like 100+ mods before.

This is definitely something to keep in mind - I've seen tons of CTD issue resolved by just re-organizing mods a bit. So if your CTDs aren't happening in a plot heavy settlement, you might try moving some stuff around like this suggestion.

Is your Fallout running from a SSD or HDD?

Perhaps this is the cause of my frustration, KG, thanks!! I've got a new/first PC and have been experiencing graphics related issues since day 1, no mods installed. It's neither better nor worse now with mods so I assumed I had a PC setting problem somewhere.

I'm still getting the occasional ctd when fast traveling to Sanctuary, but I'd guess it is probably more engine/hardware limitation than anything else. Currently 30 settlers in Sanctuary with 10 advanced industrial plot and 13 settlers in Red Rocket where I used neeher's mod to expand the settlement boundary. Got a RR bar and Sanctuary recreation plot in the middle of the river, connected by shack bridge pieces to both banks. I'm having a blast, well worth the occasional ctd!

Ok people as promised.

Ok so I did some testing on my rig with my problem here [remember I started this thread lol]. ;)
Anyhow, what I did was left sim settlements in the order it was before the update. It wasn't broke so why fix it right?
Then I took industrial which was third last on my list of plugins and move it up as high as I could to index 17 on my list of plugins.
I then not only played for a few hours but also built a decent sized settlement as well.

So it appears that my problem has been fixed.
I would like to hear from others that have done actual fixes to their problem of CTD's as well.
The way Firderis did when mentioning a mod that helped him out above.

We have had enough time now to try the multiple fixes.
Time now to share the results everyone :)
