Seems I have a new bug with some settlements, since we updated to 2.0 or with "Industrial Revolution". If I fast travel to those settlements, the game crashes after some seconds inside or nearby the settlement. If I walk into the settlement by foot there is no problem. I reloaded the old save from an other settlement after I entered successfully one of the bugged settlements, fast travelled to the same bugged settlement, game crashes again.

The list of the settlements with "Fast travel-crashs":
  • Jamaica Plain
  • Red Rocket Truck Stop
  • Taffington-Boathouse

My updated modlist (with 2.0):
  • Home Improvement
  • Jib's Residential
  • Homesteaders
  • Trailer Park Dreams
  • JtBryant's Utilities
  • Ruined Homes and Gardens
  • Wasteland Ventures
  • Industrial Revolution

Do use conquest mod?
I was getting the same CTD after fast travel
but when I removed conquest it was fine

No, never installed that mod. Same with wider or higher boarders. And I've only upgraded the ones on the lists.

Could it be a workstation issue?

If I have to guess, there must be a memory effect problem with something inside those settlements. Even if I don't move I get a crash after some seconds. Will try the next time to walk from an other fast travel by feets and then scrap the alchemy station. Perhaps it's an issue with the moduls, since we have an own workstation for SS. But I have an alchemy station at an other settlement as well, without a fast travel crash

Hope you can fix it :)

I have a memory effect problem to :( I cant find my car keys lol

Have seen right now that the SimHomestead.esp seems to need the DLCs, but it's not mention somewhere as an info. Perhaps that's the reason of the crash, will take a look into it.

It could also just be the typical reason, which is once you get to a certain point over the vanilla build limit - the game engine can't handle it anymore. Walking works because the game engine gets to slowly load things into memory, when you fast travel - it tries to load everything at once. Since there are so many high-poly models and a ton more textures than the base game has available in settlements, the engine just can't handle it (depending on your system specs).

It's why I'll be adding support for all of the performance options over the next few weeks. Not being able to fast travel is no good.

The solution isn't that punishing. Take the next fast travel point avaible and walk 30 seconds to the settlement. I have to do that anyway with the marina village, the fast travel spot is UNDER a house and i'm prisoned there and can't get out :skull

You can move the fast travel spot to a better location

In this vein, has any of you tried moving your fast travel spot to the edge of your settlement and facing it away? I'm curious if that helps since it won't have to immediately render everything.

I'm having the same problem, with Sanctuary Hills. I tried fast traveling to Red Rocket instead but it did the same thing, probably because it was close enough that Sanctuary tried to do a Total Load. So I walked from Sunshine Tidings. I noticed that the game was having trouble loading all of the models even as I approached. But no crash. I then fast traveled from Sanctuary to Sanctuary, and it didn't crash, probably because everything was already loaded. I then messed around there for awhile and fast traveled away. Should I just reduce the number of plots and settlers there? I can make that sacrifice, if necessary.

That, or disable clutter in the performance options (though atm, it removes a lot of furniture as well- I didn't envision ever having a setting like this when i built the models, so a lot of it is all rolled in together)

Its part of vanilla, I forget the section but I think it may be under furniture Misc.
@Firderis It is in the resources group > misc, same place with the Bramin feeding tub. It's called the "Fast Travel Target", you can place it down to change the location you arrive at when you fast travel to a settlement. You can place one FTT in each settlement.

I have done what @kinggath suggested in terms of moving the fast travel point to the edge of a large settlement where not much is happening and I do think it helps.

Thx boys, time to get some new fast travel arrivals. Seems I have a job to do this evening :moil

You are most welcome

I have not purposely tried to face away like @kinggath suggested. That might help even more. Maybe plan to wait for a minute after you arrive as well.
