Got home today at 3:00 PM, saw text from internet provider, "Internet down until approximately 6:00 PM. :crazy OH NO WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? Who is going to check on my settlements? Pulverize those meanies attacking my helpless settlers? Would someone feed Dogmeat?
I spent the next 2 hours pacing the floor, looking at my phone every 5 minutes, or less, to check to see if by chance the internet had come back up. Finally, there it was. I could breathe easier. I hurried to my PC and booted up. Logged into the game and low and behold everything was fine. Take a deep breath and go find some Super Mutants to murderize. I needed to blow off steam.
After this I started thinking, I may have a problem. Does anyone know of a Fallout 4 Anonymous group?
I think I may need one. It is of course entirely the fault of SS2. I was going along happily playing my 2 hours a day on weekdays and 5 hours on weekends. Then I found SS2 and it was all over. Now it's 8-9 hours on weekdays and 12-16 on weekends.
Help me!!!! :grin No can't stop yet, chapter 3 is coming. :clap I will become a hermit and never leave the house.

I know that the majority of "my" time is spent on video games, primarily Fallout 4 and SS2. It's my preferred entertainment.
I am not a video game addict though, since I take time out for work, family, chores, food and sleep (hah!) In my opinion, playing games is better than sitting inactive in front of the tv all evening, because gaming is interactive and requires me to think, problem solve, immerse myself in something that takes my mind from things that cause stress. I too pace and fidget when the internet is down :pilot, napping will often occur due to boredom.
I am a hermit though :declare

I have chronic illness, so on days where my health isn't doing so good (which is quite often), gaming tends to be a source of comfort for me, too. And yeah, as much as I love FO4, it's unplayable for me without SS2 in my load order now so I get it lol. I also have ADHD and a lot of the hobbies I used to enjoy don't stimulate my brain enough, video games seem to tick those boxes for me, especially if it involves problem solving or following patterns :)

A funny story about work... there were two guys who had the key to the trailer doors in shipping and on the day Sekiro dropped they both called in sick. The supe had an incoming trailer and no way to get it loaded since the only other key was locked in the supply cabinet... and the key to that was with you know who. It was hilarious hearing him over the radio trying to get maintenance there with some bolt cutters to break into their own cabinet since the trailer was 'in waiting'. All the while... they were home... playing... :grin

Good times... Good times...

Well... I only got to read this... cause'... I never left the house either. :grin
Two years ago, I spent 3 weeks of every month on the road for my job. I did that for 12 years. My first year out of that job I didn't leave the house for 4 months straight.
I had to go back to work just so I had a reason to get dressed and leave the house.
Just a few interesting numbers.
The last 2 weeks had 14 days which is 336 hours.
I worked 6.5 hours for 10 of those days, with a 30-minute commute, total 70 hours.
I sleep between 6.5 hours on weekdays and 5 hours on weekends. In the words of the Great John Bon Jovi," I'll Sleep When I'm Dead.":skull
Total of 75 hours.
According to Steam I played FO4 for 148 hours in the past 2 weeks.
That leaves slightly less then 3 hours a day for meals, showers, chores.
No wonder I never seem to have time to do anything. :grin
I cannot wait until school is out so I can have my 7 hours a day back.
Maybe then I'll get more of the "to do list" done.

I'm lucky if I can sleep more than three hours at a time. I remember putting in a 12, then coming home and not being able to sleep. I sat up in bed kindof meditating all night until time to get up, bathe and head in... put in another 12... thought to myself, after quite a few energy drinks, this wasn't the best toss I'd ever had. Finished up work, went home... and still couldn't sleep! lol I don't remember when I finally dozed off but I didn't stay down for more than three or four hours.

The strange thing is... even on three hours I feel pretty good. But if I force another five I feel more tired than with three. I've never figured that one out. So on my days off, I'll take a quick 1-3 then up about 8-12 then cycle back again. The cool side effect of all that is... my brain thinks that each up and down cycle is a day... so a few days off feels like weeks.

I've never been able to sleep more than 5 or 6 hours at most, and I know what you mean about trying to sleep longer. I have heard people say that older people don't sleep as much, but I have always been this way. My Mom used to complain all the time about me getting up at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning, until she finally gave me a later bedtime. When she moved it to 10, then I didn't get up until about 4. I used to get a lot of homework done in the early morning hours. I've always said the 8 hour thing is just a suggestion.

I can def relate to this... I'm a night time person 'all in', and am up all night long- no matter what! It's funny cause I can sleep more easily during the day just not at night. I remember when I worked day shift awhile back having to get up at 5 just to get cleaned up, make breakfast and relax just before heading in to work. Then on the first vacation I took... in less than 3 days... I was back to night shifting! You know... like one of those movies where they guy is sitting at a table at night over looking the Caribbean... lights brigher on the water than on the buildings... thinking to himself... this is home. There's no way to change my internal sleep clock. Not happening no matter how many years I get up early!

With school I never did care for structured learning. I was one of those who would think about the science... then ask my parents for a biology set... or go into the woods putting together the mystery of everything I would find... in my own way. It was like discovering the secrets of the universe... in a universe that wanted to tell it's own story to anyone who would listen. Oh yeah... and the home made rocket engine I lit off in the garage! Went under my dads work cabinet... lots of leaves near the garage door... no fire though. Maybe a yet undiscoverted safety design? or just plain luck. Lol!

Speaking of night time as a kid... don't get me started with waking my parents up at night because I couldn't get enough 'monster' movies and would freak out in the early hours of the morning! Yeah... that one went over well. :lol

From seemingly nothing I opened my eyes and saw... everything.
Once again... from seeminly nothing I looked in my hand and saw something.
It was a creature of such color and beauty how could it even exist.

And once again... I saw everything.

Time for this brain to find a mental wall socket and Bicentenial Man myself till those 3 hours are up!... :lazy

I used to be an SS2 addict (who am I kidding, I'm back to it when ch 3 drops. Just gotta make sure to not completely sleep through all my alarms for work... that happens when you least expect it). While it's all very fun, there has to be some balance. Gotta get out of the room sometimes...
(random shower thought - why do people say "touch grass" and not "touch sand"? Sand is more relaxing... unless you're Anakin Skywalker)

My (Divorced) Father was constantly up nights as a side effect of his trauma in Nam. 3rd grade I knew what bars to tall to try and find him. He would get shamed into coming home by the bar companions and take it out on me. I wasnt allowed to wake him up at night if I was scared for any reason. I remember cops, screaming, fighting, etc at the neighbors and I was proud I didnt go to him to protect me. Then I got yelled at for not waking him up. My sleeping schedule is weird when it exists at all :)

Mine would never ever talk about the war. He was in three, and once told me they did things they weren't proud of and that was about it- and I never asked. My uncle was in the Army and would talk about 'action' and that would really hiss my dad off... he would say... he never saw anything because if he did, he wouldn't be talking about it. The only thing I ever heard him say was when we were watching a war movie... one guy piano wired another and there was a foley 'thunk'... he said with a low voice... it doesn't sound anything like that. And that was about it.
