Is there any way to get settlers to be auto-assigned based on their special stats?

Like is there a mod or something that assigns settlers who are best in agility to defense plots, etc.?

In the last Kinggath livestream, he mentioned that there is code that does this, but it is really slow. He figured that it would cause more trouble than it's worth. I can't recall when it was, but I'm thinking it was in the first half, before he brought the guest in.

Here's a link to the stream (pretty sure it was in this one):

Yeah, it's technically "possible", but the code to do that would be several orders of magnitude slower to run. I believe kinggath said it might eventually be put in as a tool you can manually run rather than fully automated.

I’d be ok with it as a you click this but must wait in settlement like 5 mins but settlers get assigned right setup. I know he was talking about some soft reworking the assignment code to improve it, that sounds a little more major though.

I am very much in favour of this coding. Right now the auto-assign appears to be very finicky - If I try to assign anyone to a plot, the person symbol will change in the workshop view but the augmented reality view for the plot does not change (refresh code not running?) and the plot's resources are not added to the banner bar at the top of the workshop view for food, water, power etc. (Again refresh code not running?) Any code that would force a re-evaluation of plot assignments may be very beneficial but I think a look at the code allowing the player to assign plots needs a re-look as well. BTW, this is not a script lag issue. I was encountering this from the beginning with very few plots.

Honestly, with how long it takes to:
  1. Summon the settlers
  2. Look at their SPECIAL stats
  3. Go to the plot to resign them
  4. Repeat 20 times
I will take that bet, for the sake of my sanity.

Seems there's now a tool in the HQ to do this for us! I haven't used it yet, but it's mentioned in the latest patch notes video.
It can be a little funky - putting someone that already has 10+ END on Endurance Training, for example - but the other "auto-reassign people on Training if their stat hits 10" thing should kick in eventually and sort that out for you.

I wonder how smart that code is. Like if I have 10 people with 10 agility and only one of them with 10 endurance, what's the chance that one will be assigned to the hi-tech farm and not hi-tech martial?

I used the comm array tool to do this on all of my settlements. Now I have issues. Ronnie Shaw ( no longer offers armory sales) and Sturges got modified and now I can't continue past giving Sturges the holotape scanner from the Institute. He doesn't even let me trade anymore.

Might I suggest a edit to the script to check for named NPCs that are required for storyline quests and not modify them. Now I need to find a way to reset Sturges without breaking my save. I'm level 90+ and really worked on this playthrough.
