After over two months of deep diving into the code, the HQ 2.0 patch has finally been released! (As is a very important update to Workshop Framework.)

This may be the biggest patch we've ever done - in fact, there's so much content - the patch notes video is almost an hour long and barely scratches the surface of the new content. If you have no patience to listen to me talk about it for that long - just jump in and start tinkering with HQ - we've peppered it with new explanation notices as you unlock the new features!

  • Workshop Framework can now detect when its scripts are overwritten, and a new optional file is available to solve this problem for those of you sick of load order troubleshooting!
  • New side quest from Jake available after you complete his previous side quest "Sea to Glowing Sea"!
  • HQ has loads of new features and bug fixes to bring it closer to the vision of allowing you to run your own faction!
  • Caravan Code overhaul to make it more reliable, faster updating, and cleaner looking on your pipboy map!
  • So many other changes and fixes we had to organize the patch notes into sections...
Xbox players, the versions to watch for when you can safely update are: 59 of SS2, and version 29 of Chapter 2. We now have someone at Bethesda monitoring the situation with the Xbox issue of not usually being able to download right away. If you have trouble updating - please respond to this thread and tag me!

-------

Really this could have been a 3.0.0 update, but I tend to reserve those for the pre-expansion patches. Huge shout out to all of you who helped test the crap out of this update - could not have gotten it here without you guys.

There's still a lot more I want to do with HQ in future patches, and more coming in Chapter 3 - but this now feels like a full gameplay loop with lots of things to experiment with and discover. By the time we're finished - I hope to have a system where you feel like you're leading your own organization with the tools to create a faction rivaling the Brotherhood or Institute in scope!

For those of you not into HQ, there's a ton of other stuff in this patch (and we do have plans for adding skip mechanisms to HQ, so people who are more interested in story content can still do so without engaging much in the loop).

As I've been messing with my mods so much, I downloaded the most up-to-date versions of chapters 1 and 2 from Nexus this morning (manual downloads, as I use Mod Organizer, not Vortex). But neither file has a file extension and MO2 won't install them. Do I need to re-name them, or am I missing something?

Seems they needed the .7z extension to work. Not sure why they weren't recognised automatically, but must be something odd in my setup.

Is a new game needed? I am completely unable to play after updating

Theresa contacts me to tell me thanks for the Network update (which id done ages ago) then the game screws up next time I talk to someone, camera freezes, can suddenly see part of my hat, can't move or open pipboy etc and this happens every time i reload the previous saves.

No, the 7z extension doesn't solve the problem either. 7-Zip (22.01) cannot open the archives (error message from 7-Zip) because they are ZIP archives and not 7z archives. Affected are "Sim Settlements 2-47976-2-2-0-1658519534.7z" and "SS2 Chapter 2-55817-2-2-0-1658515636.7z". Both were downloaded today. Simply change the file extension from .7z to .zip and you're good to go. :blum

7zip (https://www.7-zip.org/) is the free utility I have installed for unzipping (works with *.rar files too). Not sure what format the Nexus downloads are, but once I gave them the 7z extension, MO2 was able to call on 7 zip to work its magic.

The most important question for most at the moment: Is a new save game required to play the release or can we update from the last beta patch?

#kinggath, great job kinggath, connecting to supply chain is fixed and with the new series x console everything works so smoothly. Congrats to you and your team and thanks again for one of the best mods available.

OMG I almost jumped out of my chair when you revealed "Optimal Reassignment"!! No more scanning all the damn NPCs and putting them where they belong! Very nice. Please send props to the guys who did that. Thank You for everything as well Kinggath.

I only just noticed the most heinous, terrible, utterly immersion-ruining and game-breaking issue:
The Logistics and Engineering Department Desks in the Comm Array Room don't have the Bobblehead for their Job Stat on them. All the rest of the Department Desks do.

More seriously though, now that I saw it in the "Patch notes video", I've noticed it too. There's a spot right there in front of the Comm Array that people get 'stuck' frozen midway through an animation and become unresponsive. Lupe's standing right there for me right now.

Right click on the filename, select "rename" from the menu, then remove the "7z" at the end and replace with "zip".

Did I miss something? It seems I can not hire NPCs to the HQ now. Do I have to do something different? I don't get the same conversations with them initially.

You now need to have the "Recruitment Clipboard" equipped as your weapon for the HQ Recruit Dialog to pop up.

I was so confident this'd be a Frequently Asked Question that I pre-emptively made this video showing where you can pick it up:

(the questline does point you to it when you first get up to that point of being able to recruit, but if you're already past there, obviously it won't retroactively change the objectives)

@kinggath As previously stated, there is something wrong with the files uploaded to Nexus for SS2 - without extended and SS2 Ch2.

Strange thing, if you change the extension to .zip, the issue is resolved.

edit: WSFW is OK.

Issue is happening with any conversation via pipboy radio, managed to get the Theresa one to complete but the next one just kills the game.

Assuming at the moment it is XDI, anyone using XDI having the same issue with the new convos?
Edit: Tested without XDI and the Pipboy radio convos have made the game completely unplayable, if one comes up it is impossible to get past and locks up all player involvement in the game.

Thanks man. My memory is not what it once was.

@msalaba I can't replicate? But I use chrome and MO2.

KG talked to Nexus and this was a suggestion.
"Picky suggests everyone slam the nexus support forums with the problem. Include which default browser they use with the report and whether they downloaded from browser or updated through nexus."

That's all @pra !
