Alternative plans for ROTC

Your new challenge is to come up with a City Plan for the settlement in the new Point Lookout mod. :aye:
Does it have the red workbench? If it doesn't then, and I'm guessing now, it could be done with the Creation Kit. Here is what I know about the Creation Kit. CK stands for Creation Kit. The end.

It does have the red workbench. It was added to the mod so players could have a Point Lookout settlement. Very large build area, too.
In fact, it does something unique in that it includes a house on-side which is a separate load zone and has its own independent workbench. 2-for-1...Such a deal!

That sounds really cool. Can you add a link? So I make sure we are on the same page. Literally.

Wait. Is this already in the game? Or an extra mod?

Point Lookout was the name of a DLC for Fallout 3. It was remade from scratch for Fallout 4. (It was a huge release!)

Thank you. Keikerfly must be busy cause I thought they would give the link.
Isn't it shocking how little I know? :agree:

Yeah, sorry, I spent the long weekend mostly offline. Correct: I was referring to the new Point Lookout mod for Fallout 4. If you liked the original in FO3, you'll be impressed by the work put into this by the Capital Wasteland team, to make it as faithful a re-creation as possible while adding FO4 touches (such as a fully functioning settlement).

Hi, If you have some ideas or some specific wants for the settlement. PM here and we can talk about it.

It's nice you took some time off. I've played Bethesda games for a lone time.
Every so often after I sledgehammered the computer and threw it out the window. Ran over it with a monster truck. Then burned it at the stake. I enjoyed some time off too.

I had to go to court for anger management issues. I said, "Your Honor have you ever played Bethesda games?"... No... 30 days later. Case dismissed.

I'm wondering, WaningGibbous person, if all of the city plans in your pack are standard three-level plans. I have recently starting building a few of them, and a couple (Oberland Station, for one) is at level 1, but shows no progress indicator above the info box at the bottom-left of the screen. Does that mean that the plan is just a single level, or that something funky is going on?

Hi, all plans are single level. That was asked for in the beginning, so I stayed with it. To make file sizes as small as possible.

When I'm building these settlements or any other settlement packs. Three things I've noticed that stop building from progressing. I'm sure there are others too. In no particular order.

1 No supplies. Sometimes I need to add supplies.

2 Settlement is at the build limit. When I built all these my build limit was set to 300-400 percent at the red workbench (space bar). But I've noticed when building them from the pack into a new game. Build limits are now set back to 100% and they then stop building. I'm not sure why the build limits I originally used were not transferred into the settlement pack. Go to red workbench and add to the build limit. Maybe @msalaba would know?

3 Script lag. On my computer just getting two or three settlement building at the same time really slows things way down. You know the top left windows that pop up telling when something gets done at a settlement? I wait until I don't get those anymore before adding more settlements. And I check those settlements to make sure they are done building. If I don't do that then adding more settlements to build just creates even more lag.

Thanks so much for the response!

Those items were things I was considering. I am currently adding settlements at an unhealthy rate, so the single-level plans will be (as you noted) a lot easier on my system than several multi-tier plans. I have experienced several CTDs in current and previous playthroughs where all the plots in the settlement I'm in are exploding and rebuilding, causing the scripting handler to depart for a saloon or something.

I expect (but don't know) that the base game prohibits plans from altering the build limit. Mostly I guess this since the build limit was likely created to stop settlements from overwhelming systems, causing crashes.

I am liking your plans, and they just might be enough for me to try building a few of my own.

Thank you for your kind words and trying my (our) plans.

When do I get CTD's? When I too, get too many things going on at the same time, and my machine can't handle it.
What we need is a "stress" meter for the machine. Letting us know when enough is enough.

You are probably right about the build limit thing.

It's the easiest thing to build settlements. It has to be, or I couldn't do it. You should then post your settlements on Nexus. Just remember most people don't like to install a wall of addon packs just to build your settlement. That's why I'm only using three.

...

I'm pretty sure city plans do not increase the settlement build limit. The only way to adjust the build limit is through the 'Manage' option at the workbench. (or a 3rd party mod)

What triggers all the plots in a settlement to do the "explosion" animation? That was supposed to be fixed a couple of patches ago.

Thank you for your reply. I hope you are doing well my friend. You're right it doesn't, but don't you feel it should? My settlements stopped building and I couldn't figure out why. You know how forgetful I am. It took me a long time to finally look at the workbench.

I started three of the four closest to HQ. They all stopped with only the foundations being built. Not one building in any of them. I was completely baffled. I went around adding supplies and settlers. Nothing. Then I finally checked the build limit. All three were at 100%.

How about something onscreen (while playing) that lets us know we are at the build limit? And which settlement(s).

New people to the game. People returning to play Ch 2 from a long absence probably wouldn't think to check the build limit. Especially if they are not builders. I've put this information on the pack's description tab. But how many actually read that?

Here u go!

Boom!

I just happened to jump on Nexus mods during a free second at work, saw the new layouts, then came on here to say thanks and I'm glad you had a blast building them. It was completely coincidental; I had no idea you uploaded them just an hour or two prior. I'm gonna get 'em.

(I did something weird. I got caught up watching Wanderer's permadeath Frost+ videos on YouTube, which prompted me to pause my current Horizon/SS2 playthrough and jump over to a Frost+ playthrough for awhile.)

I get the build limit issue as well. I was also under them impression that SS plots wouldn't affect them, but here we are. I just increase the limit manually and deal with all of the st-st-st-st-st-st-st-stuttering when visiting one of the settlements.

A stress meter to monitor the performance would be a great idea - with a built-in feature to autosave if said meter approaches the redline and a CTD is imminent.

At Point Lookout I wasn't able to change build limit.

And thanks for your kind works.
