How do I pick back up Sensors??

I placed a 3x3 plot, but I want to return the asam and place a 2x2 instead.

Changing plot type only does that, and destroying the plot doesn't return an asam. I even tried storing the asam back into the workshop and that doesn't return one either.

So unless the scrapping/storing option isn't functioning properly I have no Idea how to return asams back to my workshop.

As far as I know, you don't. It's a consumed resource, like the wood you use to build a floor. You can scrap a floor, and you may get some of the resources back, but not as much as you spent. I do believe you can store a plot and place it back down later. So you could place a 3x3 agricultural (using an ASAM), store it, then place it down (still as a 3x3 agricultural) elsewhere in the settlement without using a new ASAM. You cannot however, place a 3x3 and then turn it into a 2x2.

You can also turn a plot of one type into a plot of another, but as long as it's still the same size/footprint of plot. So, for example, you could change a 2x2 agricultural into a 2x2 residential using the same ASAM. You do this by activating the ASAM on the plot and using the "Advanced" sub-menu.

But once an ASAM is spent, it's gone.

Options -> Gameplay -> Difficulty -> Destroyed ASAM sensors.
But I am not sure this is what you are looking for, as I have never tried it

This is good advice, as you can plop down a 3x3 food and then ASAM -> advance change it into something you do want, like a Multi-house plot if my suggestion does not work. Its a little more work but at least you don't lose it.

Trashcan Carla sells 3 of them every time she resets her shop, and so does the dublin diner as long as you didn't kill her.

Didn't know about that option setting; thanks for the FYI. Will have to check it out later.

Various vendors around the Commonwealth will eventually carry ASAMs. I've purchased from Carla and Trudy, as you described, but also from Myrna and even Tinker Tom.

I think you get asams back when you destroy plots in workshop mode, but not sure.
You are meant to no matter which way you do it. I have now seen a few people mention that the ASAM Menu method isnt returning one, I will give that a look.

EDIT: After some testing, it does appear that using the "destroy plot" option from the ASAM menu is not 'refunding' the ASAM itself for me either (unless that's causing such a script delay that 15 minutes of waiting in a completely-empty settlement wasn't long enough), but Scrapping the Plot via Build Mode 100% is.

That setting controls whether or not the ASAMs can be destroyed during a settlement attack. There is another setting to allow auto repair when the attack is over.

Not sure if any of those settings actually work, but I might be wrong on this. I just stock up on sensors and replace them either way. But I normally have a lot of them (and if not, there are enough supplies to make a couple boxes), survival players probably don't.

So if I'm reading this correctly, scrapping the plot with build mode will return an asam?
