Build Limit query

Right, so I'm at Red Rocket and about 65% done but I've hit the build limit. I'm not so sure if I have though, I've not built much more than I normally would have here... that being said, it has been some time since I've played. Looking for some confirmation that things are running as they should be here.

Current Triangle count: 399,376
Workshop Max Triangle count: 2,000,000
Current Draws used: 3167
Workshop Max Draws: 2000

1. Does this sound about right in terms of build limit maximums at Red Rocket, given the city plan mod should raise these along with the build limit at the outset (I assume)?
2. If the Draws are over but the Triangles aren't, what's the likely culprit and how could I fix it? If I did, would I see the build limit go down?
3. Anyone got any tips for rescuing precious build space that doesn't require hitting dat scrap button too much?

Pls and ty in advance for any help given

Consider the build limit a guide.

The code used to update the build limit for plot buildings is just a guess, and depending on the building, it can be fairly inaccurate. If you hit the limit, call that your warning that you should start wrapping things up, then feel free to extend it again to finish your last bits.

So when you say I can extend the build limit again to finish off, how much leeway can I give myself there? Going back to Draws and Triangles, which number should I be going by to accurately represent a build limit? Is there another number I should be looking at instead?

Thanks again
:agree:

Draws tends to be the one that likes to crash the game.

Hard to answer on leeway, ultimately, if the FPS tanks when I load up your settlement on Xbox, you're going to lose points in the voting round. So you'll have to use your judgement. If your PC is decent and you start dipping below your usual framerate for what you consider playable, then assume it will be completely awful for low end players.

Alright, I'm gonna expand my build limit a little more and finish up within the new remaining limit. If my build becomes ineligible to contest, then that's that. I've already got a fairly set vision for this build and it'd suck to get this far and not complete it.

Thanks for the advice!

I had the same problem in my build, so I actually went and made sure. The holotape does a straight double of both Max Draws and Max Triangles. My assumption is that there's been a behind-the-scenes change in the calculations of the plots' impact on the build limit (that, or it's just actually turned on now, and I somehow had it off before).
Combined with hitting the limit so much earlier than planned and realizing how much seems to have changed in mechanics & balance since my last actual playthrough or city plan build (both basically pre-Conqueror), I decided to put my building on hold for the time being and get my playthrough load order up and running. I'm going to enjoy experiencing SS2 from the player's side a bit to get a feel for it before I come back to city planning.

It is a big change and thoroughly endorse this approach!

Can we average Build limit across levels :grin
Although that might not work as I think my Level 0 and Level 1 are under... just, Level 2 is high, and Level 3 pushes that a little more.
I guess trees waving about in the breeze would steal a few more FPS, but I love my 8 trees - and I did keep them to the small and medium varieties :)

I'm in the same boat as harkness13
I have my vision and will complete it without compromise too much, and hey there's always next month to pare back and reduce my ambitions

Haha, I'm definitely going to lose points for this reason. If not, I would be very surprised.
Edit: I think I managed to stay like 1 object below build limit on my March entry, but it still kinda noticeably taxes my system
